There are many charming cities near the San Francisco Bay Area. Fruitdale is an interesting name that makes me think about the garden of fruits. But when I visited there, it’s not what I imagined, I was pondering what the quintessential cultural theme the Fruitdale could show us.
A half-day tour in Fruitdale, an idyllic community often overlooked in the hustle of nearby cities, reveals a trove of seasonal change and cultural experiences.
The long long international Blvd.: The road is so long, extending from Oakland to here, passing more than one hundred streets, with an interesting cultural theme; a bit of a mix of different things. There were different stores and restaurants, Cultural Discoveries on International Blvd perhaps tested out taste, what are our ideal international tastes anyway? You might discover vendors selling handmade crafts, cultural goods, and fresh produce that reflect the community's diversity.
Waterfront and Suspension Bridge: One of the art events I participated in was near the lake shore across the Fruitdale Suspension Bridge. Walking through the bridge, I saw the lucid lake, I imagine there were many fruit trees growing with blossoms near the lake shore. Although a bit disappointed, fortunately there were restaurants and large grocery stores around the area, of course you could find some fruits there.
Art & Market: The art event was great, attracting many visitors and locals. People bought some of their favorite art pieces, antique look merchandise or fashions, making me feel fruitful.
