FreshView

These characteristics highlight that a fresh perspective involves looking at things from a new angle, being open to diverse ideas, questioning assumptions, and combining new insights with existing knowledge to drive innovation and problem-solving.

I
n an innovative society, people are encouraged to leave their comfort zone and bring fresh views to the table. Continuous digital disruptions today allow fresh energy to flow and bring something that would not be born without it. Here are some key characteristics of a fresh viewpoint or perspective:

Open-mindedness:
It requires expanding one's horizons, and celebrating diverse backgrounds, experiences, and ideas.

Big picture thinking: A fresh perspective involves stepping back to see the big picture rather than getting buried in details. Big-picture thinking is about "keeping the end" in mind, solving real problems, rather than getting lost in minor issues.

Novelty and uniqueness
: A fresh perspective offers a new or unique way of viewing a situation, concept, or narrative. It often leads to innovative ideas and creative solutions. In essence, innovation is, "intentional novelty bringing sustainable benefit.”

Objectivity: A fresh perspective involves being objective and seeing things from all angles without bias. Being objective means you are not influenced by personal feelings, interpretations, or prejudice; but make judgments or decisions based on unbiased fact, dispassionate examination, and deep observation.

Problem-solving: It can help address blind spots or areas that need closer examination in an organization. There are macro-problems and micro-problems; strategic problems and tactical problems. If every problem is like a jigsaw puzzle, envision the big picture and diagnose the real problem; collect all important pieces of information to fix the root cause, rather than just fix the symptoms.

Questioning the status quo: In organizations and societies, status quo bias can hinder progress and innovation, as individuals resist new ideas and changes. A fresh perspective often involves challenging existing norms and asking "why" about established practices.

Agility: It enables better business competency in changing business environments and emerging trends. Agility should not be translated to sacrificing guidelines, planning, or the development cycle of processes, projects, and products. It requires a good understanding of what is meant by organizational agility, as well as how to improve business agility by avoiding over-investing or underestimating the cost.

Reflective thinking:
A fresh perspective often requires taking time to think, reflect, and process information rather than just being busy. Personal Reflection: It involves individuals assessing their own experiences and emotions to foster self-awareness and personal growth.

Critical Reflection:
It encourages questioning assumptions and beliefs to challenge existing paradigms and promote deeper understanding.  Someone with a fresh perspective can notice patterns and dynamics that long-time members may have become blind to. Combining new insights with experience. An effective fresh perspective leverages new observations with relevant background knowledge.

Proactive approach: It involves actively seeking out new information and viewpoints rather than relying on existing assumptions. Engaging proactively encourages creativity, as it often requires thinking outside the box to anticipate needs and devise solutions before problems arise.

These characteristics highlight that a fresh perspective involves looking at things from a new angle, being open to diverse ideas, questioning assumptions, and combining new insights with existing knowledge to drive innovation and problem-solving.
