InterdisciplinaryGRC

So good GRC can create good performance and manage risks effectively, especially in the long run.

GRC is about steering the organization in the right direction. It isn’t just about putting restrictions on what you can do, it is also about monitoring and knowing when things are not going to plan so that you can take appropriate actions at the right time.

Interdisciplinary understanding of governance involves drawing on multiple fields of study to understand how societies are governed and how decisions are made. This can include:

Anthropology: Understand the cultural and historical contexts that shape governance, including issues like tradition, philosophy, and social norms. This anthropological perspective is essential for understanding complex structures, policy-making processes, and the everyday governance that affects communities worldwide.

Science: Examine the institutions, processes, and policies of governance, and how they shape decision-making and policy outcomes. The science of governance focuses on systematic approaches to understanding and improving governmental processes. It uses empirical research methods, data analysis, and theoretical frameworks to assess the performance, effectiveness, and efficiency of business management.

Sociology: Study the social structures, values, and beliefs that shape governance, including issues like power, inequality, and identity. Adopting holistic governance with a social-technical-ecological perspective to improve innovation effectiveness and efficiency

Law: Examine the legal frameworks and systems that shape governance, including issues like constitutional law, civil liberties, and human rights.

Environmental Science: Examine the role of natural systems and resources in shaping governance, including issues like climate change, resource management, and sustainability.

So good GRC can create good performance and manage risks effectively, especially in the long run. By drawing on multiple disciplines, we can develop a more comprehensive understanding of governance and how it impacts society.
