While high intelligence is common among creative individuals, intellect alone does not guarantee creativity. Creative people can solve problems rationally, but their intellect doesn't overshadow unconventional thinking, intuition, or other seemingly nonrational influences, which play a significant role in generating fresh ideas or coming up with unconventional solutions. 

The Role of Intuition: Creative individuals often rely on their own intuition rather than depending on interaction with others to inform their attitudes and responses. Psychological studies characterize the tension between intellect and intuition as one of the dualities inherent in highly creative people.

Phases of Creative Thinking: Intuition is most influential during the incubation and illumination phases of creative thinking. In the incubation phase, the individual mulls over possibilities and shifts from one to another relatively freely and without any rigid rational or logical preconceptions and constraints. Illumination occurs when resources fall into place and a definite decision is reached about the result or solution.

Blending Objective and Subjective Processes: Creativity intimately blends objective and subjective processes, and successful creators learn how to release and express their feelings and insights. This blend allows for a more holistic approach to problem-solving, where intuition and intellect work together to produce novel and meaningful results.

Creative Intuition: Creative expression can express in full something inexpressible in logical terms, which only creative articulation can express in full. The amazing creative expression articulates "unspeakable," neither just about feeling, nor image, nor yet the sum of the two, but “contemplation of feeling” or “lyrical intuition” or “pure intuition.” Pure, that is, of all historical and critical reference to the reality or imagination of the images of which it is woven, and apprehending the pure throb of life in its ideality.

When things are perceived intellectually, then they are looked at from the conscious mind and rational awareness, which means a quantifiable, logical, external perspective involving a lot of mental "doing." Understanding these cognitive processes and activities can enhance idea generation, collaboration, and innovation.
