Self vs. Creativity

Every person has the ability to be creative, set aside time daily, weekly or monthly and truly take a step back to reflect and exercise to flesh your “creativity” muscles.

True creativity has an inner origin and “self” driven. It keeps surfacing from within and keeps expressing and flowing. It simply a thought process to generate novel ideas. The interaction between what is within us (the Self), and how we project to the exterior world is the bridge to spark creativity and achieve the wholeness. The constant negotiation between our essence and our projection is what leads to growth, innovativeness, and human evolution.

Self-consciousness: To be truly creative requires the suppression of many of the parts of our consciousness which we rely on most heavily in everyday life. The interaction between the “Self” and the exterior world is Consciousness, which is trying to manifest itself in a way that is unique to you. As human beings, consciousness is at the heart of who we are. Our minds have access to both conscious thoughts and at times unconscious thought. Our subconscious mind can do “multitasking.” It has the thinking capacity to produce creative ideas for the disparate tasks or even brings those precious “Aha moments.” The more conscious we grow, the more aligned we become with our intuition, the more chance we can practice creativity muscle. Creativity is a result of living in your intuitive space. If creativity is the process of assembling previously disparate or unconnected ideas into a new whole, then it can only be a conscious act to do so. Creativity comes into play when we call upon our conscious mind with the intention to bring forth solutions from our unconscious. It is a conscious mind we call with some unconscious activities of allowing creativity flow. You are the light of knowledge and your light is also the goal of the universal knowledge. It is your light that is helping in sparking creativity and evolution of consciousness. A self-conscious mind has the strength and the willpower to follow the courageous heart, and thus, having the better chance to be creative.

Self-adaptability: Adaptability starts at the mindset level. An adaptive mind is an open mind that is able to absorb all necessary knowledge and adjust its thinking processes according to changes in its environment. To be creative, you need to be curious about things that surround you. To be conscious is to be aware and engaged with both the inner world of thought, feeling, choice, and the exterior world of experience and relationship. Digital professionals today have to learn and relearn all the time, then apply that knowledge and lessons to succeed in new situations, to connect wider dots for innovating. Learning agility is the prerequisite to becoming self-adaptive, self-adaptive people have better chances to innovate because they can get out of the “comfort zone” more easily and pursue new opportunities to grow proactively. Without a growth mindset and update knowledge, either individual or the organization will get stuck and cannot reach the next level of the growth cycle and tun on the switch of creativity.

Self-awareness: "Self" is that level of existence which is the genuine substance of who you are. Knowing oneself comes from the practice of actively and intentionally being present to relate to, see all the different parts of oneself and how they operate. When you are authentic, keep minds flow, release the positive energy, out of this comes a beautiful thing, the freedom of choice and the plenty seeds of creativity. Creativity is an innate process to generate novel ideas. Knowing who you are and how you react and respond to different situations can help you understand and improve the cognitive, relational and assertive actions you take on a day to day basis and spend more time on the creative activity. Self-awareness mind helps you build on your strengths and find energy is released from one steady state to another, and from your outer realities attempting to change to the steady state of your inner self. This energy connects the dots and generates fresh ideas. If we can live authentically, in a way that is true to ourselves, this in itself is creative.

Every person has the ability to be creative, set aside time daily, weekly or monthly and truly take a step back to reflect and exercise to flesh your “creativity” muscles. Tear down the mental barriers and tap in your inherent abilities, self-conscious, self-discovery, self-motivated, self-adaptive, and get out of the "fear" that blocks your own genius, learn how to liberate the imagination to sow the creativity seeds, and come up with a new approach to the problem-solving.
