The New Book “100 Digital Pitfalls” Introduction Chapter Two: Change Pitfalls

The change will never be for its own sake, it is always for solving business problems and making improvements for achieving “bitterness.”

Change becomes the new normal, and even the speed of change is accelerating. However, there is a high failure rate of Change Management statistically, and more than two-thirds of business change efforts fail to achieve its expectations.

What’s the psychology behind the change? What are the possible change pitfalls on the way? What would be a good way to empower change agents and develop changeability? The change will never be for its own sake, it is always for solving business problems and making improvements for achieving “bitterness.”

Different organizations are at the different stage of change, each of them has to match their own pace, fit their own circumstance, avoid digital pitfalls, and develop their own set of best and next practices.

Key Takeaways

  • Digital is all about change and exploring! It takes courage, motivation, discipline, and persistence to get out of the “comfort zone” and build change as competency.
  • In today’s volatile economy, nothing impedes change and progress more than protective silos which are simply a form of bureaucratic management designed to preserve the status quo.
  • Change cannot be just another thing that needs to be accomplished, it has to be woven into communication, process, and action of the organization.
  • Dynamic and changing digital organizations cannot operate with the static mindset and unchanging people.
  • Doing digital and being digital have to dig deeper and make radical changes to the underlying business processes and functions.
