The New Book “100 Digital Pitfalls” Introduction Chapter Five: Problem-Solving Pitfalls

The art of the problem-solving is that there are all sorts of problems and there are no one-size-fits-all solutions.

Either individuals or businesses will be more successful when they realize that one of their greatest strengths will be their problem-solving capability.

Problem-solving is both art and science The art of problem is that there are all sorts of problems and there are no one-size-fits-all solutions. The science of problem-solving is that there is the logic behind any problem. Problem-solving generally requires the ability to recognize problems, find workable means for meeting those problems, gather and marshal pertinent information, to recognize unstated assumptions and values, in order to come up with a holistic solution without causing other problems or side effect.

Key Takeaways

  • Often time, people have a tendency to fix a symptom which results from the actual cause of the problem.
  • Problem-solving includes both framing the right problem and solving it in the right way. A solution is nothing if the problem is not perceived comprehensively.
  • Trying to fix the wrong cause of a problem will waste time and resources, increase anxiety, and reward mediocrity.
  • We all have to walk in the shoes and see the problem or situation from the others’ point of view. Assume that every problem has multiple solutions and takes the time to look at every situation from multiple points of view.
  • Digital problem-solving has a very wide scope and takes the interdisciplinary approach.
