It kept raining that day, and a beautiful rainbow came out like a bridge minding the gap between past and today, urban and rural areas, darkness and brightness.
It was raining heavily, there were very few people on the train and it took about an hour to arrive Salisbury; then the staff working in the train station told me that there is a tour bus heading to Stonehenge. And then from the park gate there, you need to take a bus again to see Ancient stones. It’s not so far away, I thought the bus tickets were overcharged compared to other routes between cities.
When I was on the way to the park, it kept raining and a beautiful rainbow came out like a bridge minding the gap between past and today, urban and rural areas, darkness and brightness. When the second bus took tourists towards where the stones were located, it was windy and rainy, a very chilly day, but there were about dozens of people watching those Ancient stones under the rain. I thought there were hundreds or even thousands of big stones spread around and there were different patterns or symbols we needed to figure out. But it was just my imagination.
In fact, there were less than twenty pieces of large stones sitting there. I am a bit disappointed. Maybe architects or archeologists are more interested in doing further research about them. The pictures I took are just as perfect as the ones sold in the gift shops. I also visited the small museum near the gate, there is a brief introduction about the park and history.
The rain started pouring, I spent another two and half hours on the way by taking two tourist buses going back to Salisbury, and ultimately taking the train returning back to London.
Although it is the working day at the beginning of the new year, London's afternoon is not quiet, soaked in the rain, bustling and hustling with a holiday theme. Lots of people still traveled across the train stations; wander around in the shopping centers, and stroll in the city gardens. When
we see the street holiday light is still on, we know the fresh New Year has just come already.
