There are three powers either as visible or invisible hands in an organization: Structural power (the position with the organizational hierarchy), expert power (business and technical knowledge), and connection power. Due to the exponential growth of information and the shorten knowledge cycle, expert power is perhaps more powerful than other types of powers in the digital era because the brainpower can stimulate all kinds of creativity; and the knowledge power is the key for any sort of human progress.

Today’s digital workforces are hyperconnected and sophisticated with digital fluency. So are today’s business leaders or managers really “powerful” enough to lead them effectively? Power has many different formats; some visible, some invisible; some are earned, some are given; some are delightful, some are intimidating. There are two powers (Informational power which is about the value or importance of information and knowledge, and expert power which comes from a person’s expertise), can truly win the minds and gain the respects. But how can you earn and practice these powers, and more importantly, as a leader, how can you help to grow more experts with an open mind and learning attitude in your organization?

Is Leadership about Power or Empowerment?
Power has many different formats; some visible, some invisible; some are earned, some are given; some are delightful, some are intimidating; here are a few different types of powers: position power is associated with people who are in a position to ‘boss” others. People fear the consequences of not doing what is asked of them. Expert power comes from a person’s expertise. This is commonly a person with an acclaimed skill or accomplishment. Influence power is associated with people who are well-liked and respected hold this kind of power. What’s the correlation between leadership and power? Is leadership more about power or empowerment?

Is Knowledge the Power? Knowledge is learned, it's in one’s mind. Knowledge is just like any resourceful information or useful tool, available with you in your brain instead of in the books, pen, drive or some other forms acquired formally, informally, generally etc. Is knowledge the power, as the saying told us?

Riding Three Curves to Reach the Potential Waves of Digital Transformation
We are living in a dynamic business environment in which inventions, developments, and conflicts are continuously changing and that makes it impossible to have complete knowledge and understanding of many issues facing the company and market today. The business needs to keep discovering its own strength, ride the multiple digital curves to build differentiated competencies and reach its full potential.

The “Future of CIO” Blog has reached 3 million page views with about 5900+ blog posting in 59+ different categories of leadership, management, strategy, digitalization, change/talent, etc. The content richness is not for its own sake, but to convey the vision and share the wisdom. Blogging is not about writing, but about thinking; it’s not just about WHAT to say, but about WHY to say, and HOW to say it. It reflects the color and shade of your thought patterns, and it indicates the peaks and curves of your thinking waves. Unlike pure entertainment, quality and professional content takes time for digesting, contemplation and engaging, and therefore, it takes time to attract the "hungry minds" and the "deep souls." It’s the journey to amplify your voice, deepen your digital footprints, and match your way for human progression.
