Innovation

Alignment, clarity, collaboration, and motivation will be key enablers in building highly innovative teams to generate fresh ideas and implement them to achieve multifaceted value and make leapfrog changes.

Innovation is about transforming novel ideas to achieve its commercial value. The success rate of innovation can be improved through assessing innovation maturity and continue to optimize key success factors for innovation management effectiveness.

There is no common standard to differentiate good innovation from bad innovation. But it’s important to connect relevant dots whatever it makes sense, develop the best and next practice to improve innovation management maturity.

Innovation & confluence: Digital is the age of innovation. Digital innovation has all sorts of flavors and a broader spectrum. The confluence of information flow directly impacts idea generation, organizational fluidity and business speed. Information is one of the most time intensive pieces of innovation management. Information confluence means breaking down functional silos or geographical borders to streamline information flow, to make sure information integrity and consistency. Effective innovation management requires a suitable process as part of the holistic information management system, to ensure innovation confluence and management cohesiveness.

Information quality also impacts decision maturity; for decision-making to be effective, the decision-maker must have enough knowledge to make their decisions rich in information. Thus, information confluence enables people across the organizational hierarchy to make consistent decisions. People readily perceive organizations and projects requiring the confluence of multiple perspectives such as business, people, process, technology to shape unique innovation competency and build a high mature organization as an socio-technical system.

Innovation & yield: Nowadays innovation is complex, usually it’s not an individual activity, but a collaborative effort. The most productive innovation teams should apply multiple knowledge disciplines, close cognitive gaps, connect wider dots to yield better ideas, and build competitive advantage. At the organizational level, innovation competencies usually emerge from a blend of people, processes, and culture which evolves into a mindset to break down conventional wisdom, yield fresh ideas and build differentiated innovation competency.

When people are filled with inspiration supported by better understanding, they intend to cultivate creativity, generate fresh ideas, and unleash their full potential effortlessly. In order to yield new concepts and fresh perspectives, it’s important to engage people with recognition and intellectual challenges. In practice though, overly complex processes can easily stifle innovation: Because organizations get locked into huge processes around. Process optimization and structural flexibility are all crucial to build “loose coupling” innovation competency. Although failures in some percentage of innovation initiatives are guaranteed and sometimes, waiting for a little maturity can put later adopters on a preferable learning/cost curve, to yield high business value.

Innovation & altogether:
Innovation is often the integral divergent and convergent process; involving critical thinking and creative thinking; logic and intuition, altogether and combined, they give you fresh insight to ponder; create “aha moment” to generate fresh ideas and solve problems in an alternative way. Innovation is a process that can be managed; there are a variety of components such as people, process, information, technology, talent, altogether, they can be integrated into innovation competency. But keep in mind, overly complex processes can easily stifle innovation: Because organizations get locked into huge processes around building extensive business cases. It’s important to strike the right balance of knowledge and imagination, process and flexibility, analysis and intuition, personalization and standardization.

Curiosity is a sort of human nature; creativity is the most desired professional quality. Innovation is the only force to push the human world forward. The real challenge is getting people to collaborate effectively. Nowadays, it’s not so easy to count on one individual or one team to do innovation, more often than not, it’s a cross-boundary collaboration. However, a group of high performing individuals is most likely to underachieve if they don't collaborate well. They will find it difficult to handle ambiguous or unclear information. It’s imperative to build a high-competent team with complimentary mindset, talent, and experience, combined with the sense of responsibility and free decisions, that would support altogether the manifestation of humanitarian societies to be aware of the role of human beings on the planet, co-solve problems innovatively and make progressive changes.

From an evolutionary perspective, this is what we humans have always done and will continue doing – exploring our minds and bodies for the latent powers inherent in our genes to generate creative energy, Alignment, clarity, collaboration, and motivation will be key enablers in building highly innovative teams to generate fresh ideas and implement them to achieve multifaceted value and make leapfrog changes.
