Initiatives

It’s imperative to overcome “global brain drain” problems from mindset level, build global capacity and enforce interdisciplinary global practices, harness collaborative change or innovation with consistency.

The pace of change is increasing, the world becomes flattened, information is growing exponentially; the border of knowledge domains is blurred. What is the gap between the complexity of globalist roles and their minds? How effective are leaders in tackling complex organizational, social, global issues; observe, perceive, and pay attention to the myriad of internal, external, national or global forces? Which developmental interventions are most effective at fostering growth in global leadership and professionalism so that people are able to thrive in”VUCA '' reality?

Global professionals need to constantly improve professional qualities and competencies: Global leaders and professionals need the foresight to seek out the potential and differentiated capabilities they’ll need for future development such as tolerance of ambiguity, cultural flexibility, learning agility, handling complexity, communicating virtually, and working across cultures, etc. Business leaders and professionals with sound judgment, inclusiveness, skills of global communication, interaction, and collaboration between people with diversity of thoughts, cultural difference, etc are important to improve problem-solving effectiveness.

Global leaders and professionals with culture empathy can lead effectively in a global business environment; articulate and embody the diverse values and culture of the organization; respect colleagues and understand each other with empathy; to shift context for creating optimal value-delivery.

Global understanding and problem-solving takes fresh insight and balance of diverse viewpoints: The global environment is dynamic, uncertain, interdependent, global citizens are experiencing the same world but perhaps perceive it subjectively. Because each mindset filters information differently, thinks differently, learns differently, acts differently. There are discrepant criteria on value proposition at the different regions in the global society. Like-minded decision makers take more guts than data in today’s hyper competitive global economy, causing blindspots, gaps, frictions, and ineffective problem-solving.

Hence, in order to make sound judgment and solve problems effectively, global professionals today have to continue sharing their perspective of future global society; their roles in making desired changes, their professional strengths & weaknesses, their viewpoint about things or events happening in the global environment, balance global and local needs, pursue the optimal mix of local operating preferences and nuances along with established global standards, social justices to deal with common challenge and advance human society.

Global risk identification and intelligence has to be enhanced to run a high performance global organization:
Global leaders and professionals with the progressive minds in a collective setting can identify opportunities and risk. It’s even more critical to predict, manage internal risks caused by silo, process friction, talent gaps, as well as economic, legal, political, social and human risks in the global ecosystem environment. The companies with mature risk management practices outperform their peers financially.

From principles to processes, methodology to technology, risk management needs to get integrated across departments and functions. Even though many decisions, and related risk management may seem minor, the process should be there. The efforts on identifying, integrating and managing risk are critical to build global business advantage in the long run. Enterprise wide risk management has to take a platform approach, integrating all important elements such as people, processes, technologies, tools, culture, etc, to ensure you have right risk management control and practices.

The globe we co-share is diverse, dynamic, it's important to shape a holistic view that sees the world as an interconnected, interdependent and integrated ecosystem which keeps evolving. Business leaders and professionals should ponder: what would you think the progress is, what needs to be changed, and how to drive changes in the global society progressively. It’s imperative to overcome “global brain drain” problems from mindset level, build global capacity and enforce interdisciplinary global practices, harness collaborative change or innovation with consistency.
