The city is sophisticated, we perhaps perceive it differently, can we understand it deeply enough, and let it shine even on a dark chilly day?
In the early morning, San Francisco usually is dark cloudy, and chilly, pedestrians wear all sorts of clothes. Some wear summer t-shirts and shorts; but quite a few wear thick winter jackets even in late July Summertime.
I like San Francisco the most in the mid or late morning time. The dark clouds flew away, the sun shining up. the stores just opened doors. Tourists hang around in the downtown area took different types of hop-in and off buses, discovering the surroundings. The city of San Francisco demonstrates its warm atmosphere and urban charm. I saw antique-designed buses of all beautiful colors: blue, red, orange, green, brown, yellow, and ivy white running through the market streets all day long.
Beside Union Square, Civic Square is another great place I like to hand around, it’s the public facility people enjoy spending time wandering around or pondering around in downtown San Francisco
Civic Center Plaza is a significant public space located in the heart of San Francisco, extending from City Hall to Fulton Plaza and surrounded by grand architecture buildings such as the City Hall building which has the Capitol Hill-like doom design, Asian Museum, Great Star Theater, and a few other government architecture Buildings, etc, giving the area a regal appearance. The plaza is designated as a National Historic Landmark, reflecting its historical importance to the city, and Architectural Significance.
Across the street, there are also many great architectural buildings standing around. I am curious about the building called Lighthouse, when checking the online references, it’s a charity organization for vision or hearing-handicapped people. I believe there are quite many charity organizations around downtown to demonstrate universal love.
The Civic Plaza is very spacious, I guess it can contain thousands of people and a hold large scale of exhibitions. There are kids’ playgrounds and exercise/sports facilities at the center of Civic Square. There are colorful sun umbrellas that decorate the surroundings elegantly. I like the candle like decorations there; in the dark time, when the lights lit up, those candles changed their colors, flash up and creat unique themes. It's a great place for visitors to relax and enjoy refreshments.
This plaza serves as a vibrant hub for both cultural and civic activities, making it an essential part of the city's community life. The plaza regularly hosts smaller community events and outdoor art installations, contributing to its role as a cultural center. Musicians come here to sing and play instruments almost every day. The farmers market opens twice a week, there are book sales, and antiques sales periodically.
On a sunshine day, you sit at the colorful chairs covered by beautiful umbrellas, sipping your coffee or tea, enjoying the urban charm; on rainy days, you stay inside one of your favorite places, listening to music, watching around, observing deeper, there are quite many interesting enough figures passing through the streets, dressing colorfully, voice oddly, and act a bit wieldy. Isn’t San Francisco an interesting place to visit?
Overall, Civic Center Plaza is not only a beautiful space but also a dynamic center for civic engagement and cultural expression in San Francisco. The city is sophisticated, we perhaps perceive it differently, can we understand it deeply enough, and let it shine even on a dark chilly day?
