Structures, Skills, Solutions

It's always important to shape a high level of abilities that differentiate you from competitors, focusing on skill development, structural approach, and solution intelligence for improving professional competency.

P
eople may have years of experience, but their professional competency does not reach a high level of maturity sometimes. It’s important to identify their professional capability gaps, and build relevant skillsets, to ensure that they are developing differentiated capabilities to gain unique competency.

Structures: All structures are a result of some sort of compromise in achieving the “line of best fit” as one size and shape does not always fit all. In the hyperconnected and interdependent digital organizations, silo mentality and bureaucratic management need to be broken down. Underlined organizational functions and structures need to be fine-tuned.

The structure is the technique of engineering corporate capabilities, from the organizational design, capability building, and structure tuning perspectives, it's important to align the different parts of the digital ecosystem to adopt more points of integration. Within a well-aligned organizational structure, dedication and effort may be spent on coherent efforts to build unique capabilities and capacities rather than overcoming organizational hurdles and pushing against structural boundaries.

Skills: Every professional has their own journey of growth either personally or professionally based on their own perception, talent, skills, life experience, training, and refinement. Professional capability suitability can be assessed by understanding people’s natural talent, the skills accumulated based on their professional experiences, the attitude to learn and grow, the motivation to make accomplishments, the process to do the work, etc.

With rapid change and hypercompetitions, it's always crucial to keep developing new skills and build high-level competency. Reskilling equips individuals with the skills required to stay relevant and competitive in their professions. Organizations need to invest in upskilling and reskilling their workforce to ensure they have the capabilities to thrive in the digital age.

Solutions: Business leaders or professionals need to capture unique insight and develop all necessary skills to diagnose the real issues, especially at the strategic level, identify solution options, and which solution option is most aligned with the strategic goals. Great solutions are future-oriented, holistic, and focused on long-term problem-solving, without ignorance of emergent trends. You can't always wait for the "best" solution to emerge. It is important to experiment, explore, engage, and create multiple pathways to solve problems smoothly.

Digital professionals today need to not only have the capability necessities to “keep the lights on,” now; but also build differentiated professional competency. It's always important to shape a high level of abilities that differentiate you from competitors, focusing on skill development, structural approach, and solution intelligence for improving professional competency.
