Three “P”ondering in Thanksgiving

Many say Thanksgiving and Independence Day are two truly defining American holidays, if Independence Day is to “fire up” the spirit of America, then Thanksgiving is more about the thickness of American tradition to “cheer up”: the gourmet food and chilly weather, the holiday theme and thankful heart, it’s time to reflect what we did in most of year, recharge the energy with delicious food, and rekindle the passion for life, also it’s time to show gratitude, let’s thanks for --

1.    Peace of Mind, Heart and World

Best of all it is to preserve everything in a pure, still heart, and let there be for every pulse a thanksgiving and for every breath a song.  –Konrad von Gesner

Thanksgiving evokes the positive thinking, it’s really a plenty to thank for if you can celebrate a holiday in a peaceful land, with peace of mind and heart, that’s meaning of Thanksgiving, to harmonize and rejuvenate the spirit, to transform from chaos to order, busyness to peace; denial to acceptance, confusion to clarification and from sowing to harvest; to slow down in order to speed up, to reflect the past in order to look forward, to taste the sweet pumpkin pie for digesting bitterness of life, and to amplify the peace in one’s heart into the peace of all mankind.

2.    Progress in Year, Life and Humanity

Thanksgiving is the holiday of peace, the celebration of work and the simple life... a true folk-festival that speaks the poetry of the turn of the seasons, the beauty of seedtime and harvest, the ripe product of the year ~Ray Stannard Baker

Thanksgiving is symbol of harvest, the spirit of giving, the celebration of hard work and abundance of life, from Pilgrim’s progress centuries ago to today’s technology advancement, from “I have dream” to fair shot of opportunities”, from “send men to the moon” to “Curiosity’s Exploration in Mars”, from digital immigrant to digital native generation, from globalization to globility, Thanksgiving is the time to appreciate such transformation and human’s collective progress in a year, in life time and in the wholeness of humanity.

3.    Promotion of Freedom, Love and Goods

For flowers that bloom about our feet;
For tender grass, so fresh, so sweet
For song of bird, and hum of bee;
For all things fair we hear or see,
Father in heaven, we thank Thee!
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Just like Independence Day, as a defining American holiday, Thanksgiving is a time to promote freedom of choice, pursuit of happiness, and it’s also fair and understandable for retailers to promote their merchandise and service, turn around their businesses.

Thanksgiving is the time for appreciation, unification and celebrating fullness of life, it’s time to gain some pounds (Averagely American gain seven pounds during holiday season), also give some gratitude.

May your Thanksgiving fill with Joy!
