Practicing lateral, nonlinear or multi-dimensional thinking, could be evolutionary for understanding dynamic circumstances or things from different angles and being inclusive to appreciate cognitive differences and different points of view.
Nonlinearity is unpredictable: In the physical or business world, most relationships are nonlinear; nonlinear relationships are in general less predictable than linear ones. When systems are not just about linear relationships, they are defined as nonlinear dynamics. The more nonlinear, interconnected, and interdependent the environment, where uncertainty and emergence become more prevalent, hence accelerated rates of change, the less likely ordered hierarchical systems are to be the answer due to the rigidity.
Gaining an understanding of nonlinearity is critical for managing changes and digital transformation: There are two important things that will be important in interdisciplinary management. First, it is gaining the necessary knowledge to understand and manage holistic digital ecosystems. Secondly, it is to understand how the people factor affects the business system, and then managing the nonlinear system and the people of the system to fulfil their purposes.
