People act, observe the consequences of their actions, make inferences about those consequences, and draw implications for future actions.
The pace of change is increasing, understanding context is often the first and the important step in leading change; without it, you are working without any boundaries. There are theories and ideas that come out filled with the implications and possibilities of certain breakthroughs, but we haven’t yet realized these possibilities. Information can be used the way it needs to be used, creating the relevant context to imply certain trends, preferences, choices; that's part of the allure of constructing knowledge.
Underlying problem is whether or not the user understands the implication of choice they made, and provide protection in case they don't understand the implication: Every circumstance has known unknown and unknown unknowns; every situation has choices, So, the choice doesn't mean freedom only, but instead, it is binding on one's judgmental intelligence. More freedom with more choice is a myth. It’s always important to collect quality information, get to know the problem at hand, as well as understand the implication of the choice you intend to make. In reality though, it's very hard for many people to make tough choices because they do not take the time to think about what they believe, or what they stand for. They can't make up their mind because they are not fully committed to what they believe and in what they know to be right.
Besides quality information, be authentic, explore your inner self, follow your gut to make some choices. Let the inner feeling flow, also apply the awareness and intelligence to make better choices, but not any choice. Trust your subconscious feelings, but the most difficult hurdle to overcome is to believe that they're the right one; in case they are not, develop the inner guidance to provide protections, make adjustments accordingly.
Framing the right question is one of the most crucial steps in deepening understanding by thinking through the implication of subjective assumptions: When we use personal perception to interpret reality, there's a discrepancy between subjective reality and objective reality. How to shift from subjective to objective perception for improving judgmental intelligence? To perceive objectively, you need to update knowledge, collect feedback, and gain insight. You must have enough relevant and updated knowledge to make objective perception and sound judgment; do dispassionate analysis and make logical reasoning.
Being insightful is the ability to see through things or people, either from the broader lens or deeper perspective. This is particularly important for strategic problem-solving. The approach is to offer people a consistent process that enables them to weigh up the alternatives, and develop the insights that guide their behaviors. With consistency
It is important to define the strategic level performance indicators which take into consideration the possible implication on the future orientation: Performance Indicators should be periodically reviewed and revised depending on what the organizations’ strategic goals are. This is particularly critical if you are to get employee understanding of what the strategic goals are and how their work fits into that bigger picture. You select the critical few performance indicators with a combination of leading, lagging, financial and non-financial indicators. It shouldn’t create ambiguity or conflicts in the mind of the accountable party.
The more meaningful and important the thing businesses want to assess, the harder it is to measure objectively. The performance evaluations should be a combination of both an objective and a subjective measurement, to help business management take into consideration the possible implication on the future orientation to lead desired changes.
Everybody participates and has a stake in the solution. Do not always follow the conventional wisdom or preconceived opinions. In high-performance organizations, people are encouraged to challenge old assumptions, embrace different perspectives, update knowledge, and apply alternative ways to solve problems. People act, observe the consequences of their actions, make inferences about those consequences, and draw implications for future actions.
