The Ancient oriental gentleman Mengzi (also known as Mencius) lived during the Warring States period (around the 4th century BCE). He & both female and male associates emphasized the innate goodness of human nature, arguing that people are born with an inherent moral sense that can be cultivated through education and self-cultivation. One of Mengzi's most famous ideas is the concept of the "sprouts of goodness" or "seeds of virtue," which suggests that every person has the potential for moral development.

So education is crucial to nurture those innate moral tendencies. Each individual needs to self-reflect and cultivate a good attitude to drive virtuous behaviors and achieve moral excellence. Mengzi also emphasized the importance of benevolent government and the role of the ruler in promoting the well-being of the people.
