Oversight of GRC

Governance is neither linear nor single-dimensional nowadays; it should be understood via a multidimensional lens and enforced holistically.

Digital is the age of people. People are always at the center of digital transformation. Corporate boards of directors share responsibility for strategic planning with management teams, typically having the final say on major decisions and long-term goals.

Shareholders have the opportunity to vote on company decisions, proposals, and nominees for the board of directors.

Corporate governance transparency is essential for building trust between companies and their stakeholders during digital transformation. It involves providing clear, accurate, and timely information about financial performance and key risks. Disclosures about business practices, supply chain relationships, and how well the company meets its operational goals are examples of transparent corporate governance.

For ESG investors, transparency may also include disclosures about the policies used to ensure ethical oversight, environmental performance, and workforce and community programs. Publishing this information allows shareholders and stakeholders to hold companies accountable for their stated goals. Shareholders can push for ESG-related performance metrics, to help ensure company leaders follow through on their promises.

When paired with robust oversight, internal controls, and ethical leadership, transparency and accountability demonstrate a company’s commitment to effective risk management and long-term strategy. These measures can help mitigate corporate misconduct, reduce regulatory risks, and support sustainable business practices, which also help companies perform better over time.

Governance is neither linear nor single-dimensional nowadays; it should be understood via a multidimensional lens and enforced holistically. Corporate board's oversight of GRC practices helps to enforce business management discipline, improve business effectiveness, and overall organizational maturity.
