Progress in the global society is driven by new technologies, communication, transportation, and the adoption of fair trade policies. This leads to interconnectedness, interdependence, and the stretching of economic, political, and social relationships across space and time. 

Social change, influenced by human flexibility and adaptability, is also a factor for advancing education, enhancing equal opportunity, and accelerating collective global progress. 

Global hub: A metropolitan global city is an urban center with significant competitive advantages that serves as a hub within a globalized economic system. Global cities compete to attract capital and are marketed as entrepreneurial centers with innovation in the knowledge economy and rich cultural capital. These cities are key locations within global networks of production, finance, and telecommunications, and are seen as building blocks of globalization. Characteristics of global cities include:

-Concentration of financial and service industries.

-Large pools of knowledge professionals.

-Interconnectedness with other cities across a transnational field.

Education plays a significant role in shaping global perspectives: The idea that education could influence either society or the individual was widely held.There are increasing social and economic opportunities for citizens through instruction in various subjects both hard and soft science. International agreements, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, uphold the right to an education that respects individual talents, abilities, and cultural heritage.

Global opportunites and challenges: While globalization presents opportunities for growth and development, it also poses significant challenges. While cultural globalization creates opportunities for some, it can leave others behind, widening economic and social disparities.  Developments in Internet-based communications and instructional technologies provide opportunities for people of all ethinic backgrounds or ages to access vast stores of world knowledge. 

Deeply ingrained cultural biases and preconceptions can hinder the open and unbiased exchange of ideas between diverse worldviews. Integrating Eastern and Western approaches in fields such as education, and policymaking can be challenging due to established institutional structures and practices.
