Illustrateavoiding

Forethoughtful avoidance allows business professionals to focus on critical things, renew fresh energy, and make progress solidly.

Organizations are complex, people are complex, and the world is complex, there’s no such thing as absolute good or bad, you just need to have the special eyes to discern it; the interdisciplinary expertise to untangle it. How to avoid hidden pitfalls, unnecessary pains in reaching the next level of understanding, and professional fluency?

It’s also hard to avoid unconscious bias: Because many people avoid reality, put their own perception of it in its place. Some of the reality is indeed subjective. It can be difficult to show a willingness to be vulnerable and admit that we may not know all of the answers. Constructive skepticism often encourages us to not simply accept what is told, but gain more understanding - that would be positive to avoid falling into linear thoughts/actions traps.

It is critical to avoid misinformation for making sound judgments: Quality of information directly impacts organizational quality. Using a structured methodology that allows you to capture and analyze the results for achieving two goals: One is getting to the truth, the other is avoiding falsehood. Enhance a healthy cycle of communicating extensively, soliciting feedback, listening to different opinions and unfolding the future with a certain level of accuracy. Organizational management needs to focus on quality information adoption to ensure the right people getting the right information to make the right decisions for solving the right problems at the right time.

Avoiding hidden pitfalls begins with a belief and understanding behaviors that have ripple effects:
We all tend to be drawn into situations that force us to learn and grow, add enough value to benefit both the business and the employees’ well-being, and avoid unnecessary pains. To avoid the trap of nearsightedness, the long-term business plan needs to be a cross-functional collaborative effort. Understand and manage complexity, know how to prioritize based on the business needs. To avoid duplication, you must also be aware of the integration of a single functional capability into a holistic portfolio of business capabilities across all enterprises.

Ignorance of the unknown is a critical pitfall which could fail change and decrease business ineffectiveness. Thus, setting the right priority, and behaving like a true leader knowing how to delegate are crucial to avoid being overwhelmed. Forethoughtful avoidance allows business professionals to focus on critical things, renew fresh energy, and make progress solidly.
