In order to get quality out of anything they do, organizations should recognize and empower their quality champions, cultivate a climate that is conducive to quality, growth, and maturity.
In digital organizations, quality management is not the job of one department, but an overarching management approach. Quality masters are digital leaders and employees who can work independently and collaboratively, have excellent problem-solving skills, well disciplined, bring positivity, quality thoughts, attitude, behavior and quality management techniques to the workplace and build a high quality and high-performing business.
Quality of assessors: The quality of assessors is critical to the quality of the assessment result. Making a fair assessment of either people or products/services is as important as improving the overall quality of the business. It is a tough work to be an insightful assessor though. It takes deep observations, interdisciplinary knowledge, in-depth understanding, intellectual empathy, and dispassionate analysis to make sound judgment and fair assessment. The stereotypical thinking or preconceived ideas about how things should happen is propagating. They often drive bipolar thinking that causes poor judgment and leads to ineffective decision-making. If you want to stand at the right angle to understand quality, do not always follow conventional wisdom, preconceived opinions, be an independent and critical thinker without being excessively critical. The assessor is more important than the evaluation tool, a part of objectivity includes self-criticism and the ability to be open and flexible to gain diverse viewpoints and make the multidimensional discernment and sound judgment.
High-quality workforce: People are often the weakest link in any organization from a quality perspective. The stereotype is real, and the cognition or skill gap is a reality. This is particularly true due to the changing nature and complexity of technologies, modern business or society. To improve professional quality, digital workforce needs to develop “changeability,” for adapting to changes. It might sound like a cliche; the trick is to understand that moving out of a comfort zone leads to the creation of a new comfort zone which in turn will require you to move out of it again. A high-quality digital professional is often an excellent problem solver who presents the intellectual understanding and proficient skills to solve problems in a structural way. Quality is neither just about the static certificate nor a few random initiatives. High-quality digital professionals are consistent life learners, change agents, and creative problem-solvers. Creativity enforces quality and quality nurtures creativity. Digital professionals today must improve digital proficiency, quality, and maturity by developing their unique leadership or professional portfolio. The digital workplace needs to be designed to build a culture of quality and a culture of learning and innovation.
In order to get quality out of anything they do, organizations should recognize and empower their quality champions, cultivate a climate that is conducive to quality, growth, and maturity. Through quality integration and overarching quality management, the business can set quality as the principle and embed quality to the organizational culture, and orchestrate a high quality and high performing business.
