Innovation

Innovation is for reimagining the “art of possible”; renewing creative energy to disrupt, rather than being disrupted.

Innovation is about thinking differently, acting differently, delivering differently, or adding value differently. There are many ways to innovate, there are many problems that need to be solved innovatively.

Being innovative is the art of discovery to rise above the status quo and take on a new set of activities to ask open-ended questions, create previously unconsidered solutions. The evolution of innovation only exists in the more open environments, taking advantage of all sources of creativity in a more open way, generating fresh insight, creating novel ideas, and renewing energy all the time.

Innovation & competition:
The purpose of competition is to inspire creative thinking, healthy competition harnesses innovation, pushes us to grow and mature. Bad competition can produce a myriad of negative externalities. It’s critical to build an inclusive environment in which people will genuinely feel good, willingly get involved with commitment, encouraged to participate in brainstorming great ideas, and compete in a healthy way to catalyze innovation.

If we have two or more ideas, we have competition for picking the best one to solve problems effectively. Contemporary leaders or professionals need to be more confident and conscious rather than threatened by growth minds, strong characters, or healthy competency at all levels to spur innovation. Healthy competition is important for either change or innovation. Good competition can lead to enhanced innovation and progress.

Innovation & aggregation: Good ideas nearly never emerge spontaneously. It takes time to seed creativity and mature innovation. Innovative organizations inspire idea sharing, aggregate ideas from varying channels, connect key resources and assets in the context of the ideas, build innovation hubs and clusters across the digital ecosystem. There’s nothing wrong with lots of out-of-the box ideas as long as you are able to capture a wave pattern of expanding and consolidating ideas, make an objective assessment, select the right ones to implement for achieving their commercial values.

Ideas are seeds of creativity that can change a certain situation and future. Most good ideas emerge from interactions, not single individuals. Ideas aggregation, integration, prioritization is crucial to a successful innovation program. Some organizations have too many ideas. But more is not always better. Good ideas and expertise are correlated. It doesn't matter if the idea is original or mundane, if there is nothing to compare or relate it to. It’s about who is expected to constantly propose new ideas, challenge the status quo, further fuel creative energy, harness cross boundary collaboration in innovative initiatives to their environments, shape innovation competency.

Innovation & self-actualization:
Creativity is both natural and nurtured. Self-actualization is about discovering who you are, awakening a new level of awareness in which the self is nourished through creative refreshment and making yourself willing to reach the state of innovativeness. Self-actualization is the journey to boost creative energy, develop talent, strengthen your strength, build cohesive capabilities, and unleash potential. Concentrate your energy on developing your own strength, not just putting eyes on your competitors.

When people develop talent and build unique competencies based on natural talent, they are more passionate to explore new opportunities; become more innovative. Collectively, it’s critical to build a creative workplace in which people are inspired to develop themselves, experiment with innovative ways to do things, build inclusive teams to appreciate each other’s talent, with complementary skill sets to implement innovation.

Without innovation, there would be no human progress. Innovation is for reimagining the “art of possible”; renewing creative energy to disrupt, rather than being disrupted. Being innovative is a growth mindset and a proactive attitude. it’s important to define the updated competency model, assess the talent's overall capability to solve problems alternatively. Innovators can live a creative and productive life by strengthening mental toughness and practicing creativity continually.
