An effective organization is agile in responding to environmental stimuli.
Agility is the ability to not only adapt to change, but create the momentum to change. Agility won't fix what are called "technical problems." It is a way to organize work. Doing Agile is perhaps more as an engineering practice; but being agile is the ultimate goal organizations have to pursue.
Business leaders need to apply Agile principles and scale up agile practices from strategic making, to execution; it is a digital management philosophy to run a real time business and a structural methodology for problem-solving by focusing on interaction, iteration, and incremental improvement.
Agility is targeted for enhancing business on demand: Agile is a set of principles and mindset to shape a real-time business. It is a collection of quite diverse ideas and concepts, so it's difficult to show specific weaknesses. The weaknesses occur through people's misconception and misperception of what they can do or not do when they begin to adopt some of these Agile principles. The arrival of IT-enabled organizational capacity and capability on demand can significantly improve business responsiveness and the success rate of strategy management.
Digital Knowledge Management is not managing knowledge as an object, but providing the management system that enables knowledge flow to improve decision cohesiveness and problem-solving fluency. Real-time Knowledge Management involves the use of efficient technologies and processes of capturing, developing, sharing, and effectively using organizational knowledge timely, with the aim of optimizing the value that is generated. By applying agile principles, the "rhythm" of Knowledge Management needs to be synchronized with the rhythm of work.
Agility enforces interaction, iteration, improvement and collaboration, enabling the organization to reach the state of balance: Agile adoption means you follow the set of principles based on customer-centricity and three “I”s - Interaction, Iteration, and Improvement, and assess what you have now, as well as where you want to get to by adopting an Agile approach.
Continuous Improvement mindset is exposed via retrospectives and how they are followed through. That can help with identifying what is needed to make a smooth transition. From a business initiative management and problem-solving perspective, it’s about team engagement and adaptation. Add value to users and business stakeholders continuously, measure people’s comfort level for using Agile methods and practices, as well as the level of innovation it can catalyze to build business competency.
Being agile takes both discipline and accountability to get things done: Companies that fail to respond to their customers’ unique and changing needs are bound to lose to those that are able to reorganize themselves rapidly. Agility is the strategic mix of standardization and flexibility, targeted at those pressure points where they’re not only needed today but will most likely be needed tomorrow. The bigger the organizations or enterprises, the more they have “change inertia.” Given that most agile organizations are only agile in respect to certain parts of the business, and that many businesses fail to understand the relatively simple concepts behind agile.
Agile requires a flexible mindset and a lot of discipline around practices. You don't really understand how to work together without some guiding principle and framework. You will be held accountable, and you have the freedom to do whatever needs to be done, take the responsibility to ensure you do your best to bring about a good outcome. In order to survive and thrive amid constant change, it’s important to strike the right balance of standardization and flexibility, build strategic and operational agility into the very foundations of the business system.
An effective organization is agile in responding to environmental stimuli. The problems happen when people go to agile without proper thought as to how they should connect and interact, it's always an interface problem. Agile is not about lack of planning or discipline; it requires a deep understanding, and a huge amount of self discipline, and a mindset that includes constant learning and striving for excellence and a certain enthusiasm for continuous improvement
