New York is not just a busy city with crowds, but also a modern society connected to nature, renewing itself constantly.
Although the most impressive things about New York are the skyline architecture buildings, hustling and bustling fashion streets, and people of diversity, the large and small city gardens provide people with great landscapes and natural sightseeing, recharge themselves with a cup of coffee and tea.In many city garden squares, colorful tables and chairs are scattered around, so visitors can sit down and take a break. Even though many streets in the city center seem always look crowded, but you can always find a seat to sit and enjoy the city view in the downtown. That makes me feel New York is tourist-friendly and has a considerably advanced hospitality industry. New York City is home to several beautiful city gardens and green spaces that offer respite from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Here are some city gardens I visited in New York City:
Central Park: You can enter Central Park from different streets in Manhattan New York. I went there a couple of times and believe it’s truly the center of New York City as it connects the major attractions and streets, greenery, and grand. Locals do exercise there and tourists enjoy the natural landscape. In my opinion, it’s not extremely exquisite or colorful, but it’s spacious and green. You can walk across the lake watching geese, turtles, and fish swimming around, birds flying over, fountains sprinkle up.
The highlight of Central Park is the conservatory garden. Located within Central Park, the Conservatory Garden is a formal garden featuring manicured lawns, seasonal flower displays, fountains, and ornamental structures, making it a popular spot for leisurely strolls and peaceful reflection.
Brooklyn Botanic Garden: The Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a 52-acre botanical garden located in the borough of Brooklyn. It features a diverse collection of plants, including roses, cherry blossoms, magnolias, and native flora. Highlights include the Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden, the Cherry Esplanade, and the Steinhardt Conservatory. I like the rose garden the best. It’s beautiful color theme and attract many visitors coming to enjoy the spring blossoms.
Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden in Staten Island: It is a collection of architecture buildings, sculptures, and gardens. The botanical garden spans 83 acres, making it one of the largest botanical gardens in New York City. It is divided into several distinct areas, each with its own theme and plant collections. Rose garden is also the highlight here. It is a favorite among visitors, especially during the blooming season. It features a wide array of rose varieties, showcasing different colors, shapes, and fragrances.
Union Square Park: It’s not so far away from Union train station, Situated in the heart of Manhattan's Union Square neighborhood, Union Square Park is a vibrant public space surrounded by shops, restaurants, and cultural institutions. On the first day when I arrived in New York, I walked across Broadway, sat at the outdoor cafe of Times Square to take a break, and observed people walking over and shops spreading around, feeling the city rhyme, the intensive neon lights, and experiencing its urban diversification.
Bryant Park: I walked along the city center and across this garden square a few times, enjoying its metropolitan atmosphere and elegant garden layout. People can sit and sip coffee or tea, then go to visit nearby museums, galleries, or fashion boutiques. Located behind the New York Public Library's main branch in Midtown Manhattan, Bryant Park is a bustling green oasis in the heart of the city. It features lush lawns, seasonal plantings, outdoor seating areas, and a carousel.
I also passed through a few garden squares in the center of the city, at which people have a meal or take a break These smaller garden squares provide residents and visitors with peaceful retreats and opportunities to enjoy nature amid the bustling streets of New York's city center. When visiting those large botanical gardens, you can calm down to immerse yourself in nature and refresh your energy. So New York is not just a busy city with crowds, but also a modern society connected to nature, renewing itself constantly.
