Living in a fast-paced urban area, city parks provide a fresh atmosphere for people to relax, interact with nature, and refresh their energy. Taipei is a large metropolitan area with more than four centuries of history. The management style here is inherited in both European and Asian styles of disciplines. There are different styles and sizes of parks and gardens, integrating nature beauty, eastern charm, or Western tastes. I visited a few city parks across the different districts of Taipei city recently, intending to know this metropolitan city deeply.
Taipei Rose Garden: On the weekend, I visited a couple of parks and gardens near Jiantan Metropolitan Station in Taipei. The most impressive one I went to was: the Taipei Rose Garden. Besides tourists, many locals also come here to smell the flowers on the early spring day. There was a rose flower exhibition happening in the season. Some street musicians sang, danced, and played instruments. The atmosphere was vibrant and cheerful.
The different breeds of roses blossomed across the garden. Other types of tropical plants and trees also grow strongly. Tourists passed through arches made of roses and plants and took beautiful pictures of nature beauty. Table and chairs were set at the different hidden corners of the garden. So people could sit down, relax, and enjoy the beautiful scenes without blocking the way for other visitors to pass through. Even though we were strangers, we were all attracted by the natural beauty of roses, tropical plants, and other flower blossoms.
There were different decorations we could appreciate when walking through the rose garden to smell flowers, such as the sculptures of young ladies carrying on the flower pods, different types of cute animal figures with fun expressions, etc. People gather here to enjoy the flower festival; or have a cheerful weekend party.
Then I kept moving forward. I saw the name of the park - Xing Sheng Park, with abundant plants & flowers. Rose Garden was part of Xing Sheng Park. Lots of local families came here to have a weekend time together; kids jumped around, had fun and parents chatted around, making such Spring day very energetic and relaxing.
Across the street, there was another cultural park with some holiday themes. When accessing inside, there were pavilions, caves, crafted stones, etc to demonstrate the tradition and culture of the Taiwanese minority.
Living in a fast-paced urban area, city parks provide a fresh atmosphere for people to relax, interact with nature, and refresh their energy. Taipei is located in the sub-tropical climate area, so warm weather, along with abundant coastlines and lakes nourish a great ecosystem environment in which all sorts of creatures can co-share limited resources, understanding and support each other, to shape an advanced society with respect and enlightenment.
