It’s more accurate to describe Taroko as a “gorgeous, magnificent spectacular amazing scenery, evoking a sort of feeling to admire natural magic on the way.
In the early morning, I took the long-distance bus from the city of Hualian to visit a few famous sightseeing spots Taroko National Park and Qixing Lake, etc.The bus climbed up a very steep and cursive mountain road across the oceans with numerous tunnels Now I knew what the stranger meant. The scenery was grandeur and unique nature-made; the mountain, gorges, and cliffs were on the one side, and the grand ocean coast was on the other side. There was also human-made miracles - the long long mountain roads and tunnels passed through mountain peaks. And the bus was running very fast. It’s a bit scary. I guess “beautiful “ is not the best word to describe such a scene with many mountains peaked above 3000 meters. It’s more accurate to describe Taroko as a “gorgeous, magnificent spectacular amazing scenery, evoking a sort of feeling to admire natural magic on the way.
Rocks and vast stones were scattered all over the places. There was a legend behind Taroko. The indigenous Amis people believed that the steep cliffs of Taroko Gorge were once living giants. These giants were disrespectful to the high spirits of the nature, and as punishment, they were turned to stones, frozen in the landscape.
I headed to the final destination of the bus stop- Tian Xiang, took some photos of the mountain peak and enjoyed the balanced natural ecosystem environment with mountains and seas.
Then I took the same bus down to keep the journey. I didn’t take off at a few popular spots due to the tight schedule. As each day, there were limited buses came up and down. I took postcards-like great scenic photos at nine cursive caves, sparrow trail, etc. I saw quite a few people walking across the swinging bridge built on the valley near the Taroko Valley bravely.
I took off the bus at the Taroko National Park Center. It was located in the middle of mountains with peaceful environments Some people took the trail to go hiking. I visited the ecosystem exhibiting museum located inside the tourist center. It had brief interactions about local geological environments and the breeds of local animals. There were video sessions that introduced history and minority cultures etc
There were a few sculptures in the park. One female statue represented the big mom of the local village (minority residential areas) I didn’t see birds flying around or other wild creatures running through maybe they hid inside the forest.
It’s a hot sunny day, the mountain is great, I will take the next bus to other places down the hills. It’s time to say goodbye to the magnificent Taroko National Park.
