An Unexpected Trip to Bolzano - the Border City Covered by Snow with its own Charms

It is an unexpected trip to visit Bolzano - the border city covered by snow, with its own charm on a winter day.

After visiting Milan, Venice and Rome, I decided to head back to London through Munich, Germany with overnight trains on the weekend. Unexpectedly, there was heavy snowfall on Friday in Munich. So my train was canceled and all passengers had to take another train from Rome to Bolzano. From there, we need to take another train or business to Munich. Where is Bolzano, what’s going on in Munich?

In fact, it’s exhausting that the preplanned overnight train journey turned out to be almost a 24 hour trip, consuming another entire day on the way for an international trip. But later, I felt this unexpected detour trip had fun with beautiful Alps mountains covered by scenic snow, bringing fresh color to my Europe trip.

I took the night train in Rome at 11 pm and the train arrived in Bolzano at 8:30 am in the morning. So I visited the charming city Bolzano which is considered a bridge between Northern Europe and Southern Europe due to its geographical location, the three spoken languages (Italian, German, and Ladin) . It is the closest city in Italy to Munich.

And the train from Bolzano to Munich at 10: 30 got canceled again. I have to wait for the next train at noon time. So I had some time to wander around in the sportier town - Bolzano with snow scenes and a fashion shopping center. Covered by snow. Bolzano looks pure with holiday theme holiday crafts and fashion booths are decorated in the park. The morning farmers market sells all sorts of stuff: food, clothing, flowers etc houses in the town are decorated with Christmas ornaments making the city center look very warm and harmonious on a chilly winter day.
