LA Museums

Compared to traditional museums, these  museums I visited in Los Angeles all have a great outdoor garden or platform, at which you can immerse into nature, enjoy the city view after appreciating the classic art pieces.

Los Angeles as one of the largest metropolitan areas in the nation mixed old and new, with all sorts of ingredients to develop diverse communities, with different flavors, some fresh, some spicy, some messy.

I visited a couple of good museums at which we could learn condensed versions of human history, science, anthropology, culturology,

The California Science Center: It is located in Exposition Park, near downtown Los Angeles and USC. In front of the science center, it’s a beautiful rose garden with colorful flowers and fountains. On the back of the science center, it’s a big sports stadium.

The museum is dedicated to stimulating curiosity and inspiring science learning in visitors of all ages. It offers hands-on exhibits, live demonstrations, and educational programs. There are world of life sessions, introducing biodiversity, forest, ecosystem, etc. one section called “Fear” demonstrating how the human body responds to fear as one of the crucial human expressions to protect themselves. There is a limited space section and hunan healthcare presentation, etc. Honest to say, I feel the majority of the exhibition was a bit childish, it’s educational for school kids.

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County: After exiting the science center, the nature history museum is just at the left hand side of the rose garden, inside of  Exposition Park, Los Angeles. It’s one of the largest natural history and science museums in the nation .There is a dinosaur hall, a mammals exhibition, a gem section, and some culture introduction, etc. There are Nature Gardens and Nature Lab.

The museum's mission, shared with its associated institutions, is "to inspire wonder, discovery, and responsibility for our natural and cultural worlds". It’s a nice place to visit for those interested in natural history, science, and the cultural heritage of Los Angeles.

Griffith Observatory: On a sunny day, I also visited the Griffith Observatory which sits on the southern slope of Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park, offering spectacular views of the Los Angeles basin, downtown LA, Hollywood, and the Pacific Ocean.

Besides its great vista point to look at LA landscapes,  Griffith Observatory continues to inspire millions of visitors each year, serving as Southern California's gateway to the cosmos and fulfilling its mission to inspire everyone to observe, ponder, and understand the sky.

The La Brea Tar Pits and Museum: The tar pits are situated in Hancock Park, in the Miracle Mile museum district of Los Angeles. Outside the museum, there are some animal sculptures. Inside the museum, visitors can view life-sized models of extinct animals, and explore interactive exhibits that bring the Ice Age to review.

The Getty Villa: It is  a renowned educational center and art museum located in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. It took me quite a while to take public transportation to get there.  It's designed as a recreation of an ancient Roman country house, creating an immersive environment that complements the museum's focus on ancient art. The visitors can take trams to tour around and arrive at the front gate of the museum. The museum is dedicated to the study and display of arts and cultures from ancient Greece, Rome, and Etruria.

Visitors can stand at the outdoor platforms to observe the remote sites and watch the LA landscape. Gardens and outdoor spaces enhance the Roman villa atmosphere. People sit at the garden, sip their coffee or tea, enjoying the open surroundings.

The Getty Villa offers visitors a unique opportunity to have an enjoyable tourist experience, explore ancient art and culture in a setting that evokes the atmosphere of the diverse world. Its combination of impressive artifacts, educational programs, and immersive architecture makes it a distinctive cultural destination in Los Angeles.

Compared to traditional museums, these  museums I visited in Los Angeles all have a great outdoor garden or platform, at which you can immerse into nature, enjoy the city view after appreciating the classic art pieces. So when we are saturated with the exhibition indoors, it’s enjoyable to step outside, interact with nature and refresh ourselves for a moment. Those great environments bring us certain people delight.
