Participating in Education Exhibition in Hong Kong Convention Center

Hong Kong has the potential to keep improving its professional global manner and structural facilitation, truly becoming one of the most important hubs for innovation and globalization.

I participated in an education and career event in the Hong Kong Convention Center which is located in the harbor of Hong Kong Island. Looking through the window from the top of the building, the view of the Pacific Ocean is so elegant; with ships running back and forth; the landmark buildings spread across the coast, conveying the modern charm and harmony of the Hong Kong peninsula.

A few exhibitions are going on on that day crossing industries such as education, finance, personal hobby, etc. Most audience in the events I participate in are educators or young people who collect information for advanced education or career opportunities. I am interested in founding a global organization for cultivating the next generation of global leaders and professionals.

The education exhibition was professionally organized, and the staff there were friendly. I did see some universities and youth development organizations doing presentations. There were colleges from different continents such as European nations, Asia, and North America, set up information booths to attract prospective students. There were also live demonstrations about South Africa and other fast-growth areas. Hong Kong government-related organizations provide many career opportunities for their citizens.

Overall speaking Hong Kong is a global city attracting tourists all over the world. They come here not just to appreciate the ocean scenes but also to participate in different meetings and events. If I have to complain, compared to European nations, the hotels/hostels in Hong Kong are less affordable, some of them are in worse conditions, they should improve management effectiveness & efficiency constantly. Hong Kong has the potential to keep improving its professional global manner and structural facilitation, truly becoming one of the most important hubs for innovation and globalization.

Raining Day in Shen Zhen

I didn’t see the diverse people all over the world walking on the streets, colorful buses running through the cities, and magnificent museums across the metropolitan areas. However, I believe Shen Zhen has the potential to become one of the globalized cities in the future.

Shen Zhen is the city across the Hong Kong border; it took me about an hour to take the subway and then pass through the border check to revisit the city I’ve had an emotional connection with.

It was a cold rainy day, the city of Shen Zhen was decorated with flowers and lanterns as the lunar new year was only two weeks away. I had delicious rice noodle soup for lunch in one of the eateries near the border. Then I went to the walking street called East Gate in the city center. There are numerous fashion boutiques, gift shops, and restaurants on the street with Eastern cultural themes.

I planned to visit the Shen Zhen Science Museum; when I arrived there, I just knew it was closed on Monday and Tuesday, I was very disappointed. So I walked through the Shen Nan Middle Road which has many shopping malls selling electronic accessories. But I saw very few people compared to a decade ago, businesses are so-so there; are losing the steam as the electronic hub of the country.

Shen Zhen has been the special economic development zone of the nation for decades and it’s famous for its technology-related enterprises. For a few decades, young people all over the nation went there to pursue their dreams and build startups quite a while ago. Now as the entire country has developed to a certain degree, many cities are accelerating their growth in IT, manufacturing, and commercial businesses. So Shenzhen might gradually lose its advantage as an IT hub and its magnetic power to attract the brightest mindsets. Still, the city looks modern with broader streets, cool skyscrapers, and a green environment. I hope Shenzhen can make a smooth transition to becoming a more globalized city and play a critical leadership role in the digital paradigm shift.

I rose from the subway underground to the top and visited areas near the convention center which had no important show on that day. Fewer people are walking in the street than walking in the underground subway. There is no event I am interested in at the moment; but walking across the road, I can feel the pulse of a modern city and experience the convenience in contemporary society.

Still, Shen Zhen is not globalized enough like Hong Kong or London, because I didn’t see the diverse people all over the world walking on the streets, colorful buses running through the cities, and magnificent museums across the metropolitan areas. But I believe it has the potential to become one of the globalized cities in the future.

I planned to take the bus to capture the city scene. But I couldn’t find the right ones to go further. So I took the subway to go to one of the tourist hot spots Nantou ancient town. It was a park-like place with a cool walking street decorated with Eastern holiday themes. There are many culturally enriched gift stores and favorable eateries. There are lots of people walking around even though it’s a rainy day. Tourists hang around and look happy here.

I want to go back to Hong Kong by using the other border checkpoints However, I was not very familiar with the expanded city with its transportation systems. The staff in the subway station tried to help me navigate through but not sure about the exact route. So I returned back to the Luohu border I passed in the morning and headed back to Hong Kong in the midafternoon.

Hong Kong Space Museum

From one generation to the next, those great museums are the jewels that decorated the harbor; and entertained people educationally.

Hong Kong is an urban city with a stunning oceanfront, natural beauty, and stylish modern skyscrapers. Near Tsim Sha Tsui promenade, there are quite a few science and art hot spots that are both entertaining and educational.

I visited the Hong Kong Space Museum this afternoon. It attracts intellectually curious mindsets and evokes people's imagination. From toddlers to seniors, people of all ages came to learn about our beautiful planet and mysterious universe.

In the exhibition hall upstairs, there are introductions of some natural phenomena such as light, water flow, weather patterns, and spaceships with images; there are lots of experiments and enriched educational content.

In the hall downstairs, there is the galaxy exploration section, introducing stars in the galaxy with beautiful pictures and dazzling light. I like a set of questions posted on the wall to provoke our deep thoughts about our natural world, expanding our cognitive bandwidth and stimulating wilder imagination of the natural world and beyond.

I didn’t get the chance to see 3D movies there as the tickets were sold out that afternoon. It’s a great museum; I wish there were expanded sections for stimulating our imagination; more interactive experiments to entertain us, there are alien robots to cheer us up when I visit it next time.

I also visited the art museum again nearby the other day. It mixed the Eastern styles of antique painting and calligraphy, with Western styles of oil painting, and sculptures. When we appreciate the art, we can also look out of the window and view the beautiful scenes of the Pacific Ocean.

The water flows forward endlessly; people come and go dynamically. From one generation to the next, those great museums are the jewels that decorate the harbor; and entertain people educationally. They are the condensed versions of human history. Science, art, and anthropology open our minds to discover the unknown, challenge conventional wisdom, and keep learning and growing with fewer limitations.

Tokyo’s Big Sight

Regardless of industry boundaries, I advocate innovation, originality, and personalization.

In Japan, I planned to participate in an innovative education event. However, the conference was canceled without further notice. I planned to visit the Big Sight convention center located on the ocean coast in Tokyo.

It took me about an hour to transfer subways and trains from the city center to get there. It is a spacious conference center with a nice architectural design and a quiet environment. Inside the building, there are different conference halls and restaurants. Because I couldn’t find IT or educational-related exhibitions on that day, I went to the jewelry wholesale show that afternoon. It is a popular show with hundreds of booths and thousands of visitors.

There are pieces of jewelry made of gold, pearl, jade, diamond, and different gems. The price is from hundreds of yen to millions of yen. I think most pieces are over-standardized and lack personalized design. Perhaps the price is more based on size, weight, or material rather than design and style. I guess the producers more focus on polishing the stones to make them shine and perfect in shapes rather than emphasizing originality or unique style. But in my opinion, perfection is not the purpose of making the jewelry precious, but the unique design and personalized styles bring charm to the prospective owners.

There is a promotional section selling fashionable jewelry. I selected one piece with a very reasonable price. It looks sophisticated and it’s the only version there. So when I took it off from the model, the staff put on the different design pieces of jewelry for demonstration.

Regardless of industry boundaries, I advocate innovation, originality, and personalization. The costumes, ornaments, or jewelry pieces I picked reflect our own character and personality. The more expensive piece doesn’t imply a better design. The perfection of shapes and sizes does not always mean high quality, sometimes even means a lack of originality. Nobody is perfect, we pick the design to fit our style; we select the jewelry to reflect our authentic self and personal charm even though it’s not perfect.

Innovation Initiatives

Isn't it a tough journey to explore the world, and pursue the digital way of brainstorming, innovating, motivating, and story-telling?

The “Future of CIO” Blog has reached 10 million page views with 11,500+ blog postings in 59+ different categories of leadership, management, strategy, digitalization, change/talent, etc. The “
Digital Master” book series includes 29 books to share insight from the multidimensional digital lens and perceive the multi-faceted impact the digital era upon us is making on businesses and society. The content richness is not for its own sake, but to convey the vision and share the wisdom. Here is the weekly insight of innovation leadership, IT Management, and Talent Management.

  • Initiatives  We live in a diverse and dynamic global society with a multigenerational, multi-device workforce, multipolar knowledge centers, multi-cultural wisdom, and multifaceted innovation, etc. The journey of globalization is more evolutionary than revolutionary; curvature than the straight line. It is critical to strike the right balance, think big and small; understand both narrow and wide, assess both low and high; put a stronger emphasis on empowering people, refining information & knowledge; and catalyzing innovation, to reach the next level of business maturity.

  • Initiatives The pervasive information growth and frequent disruptions mean change is the norm and happens the whole time. The speed of change is accelerating. Either individually or from an organizational perspective, managing change is no longer a one-time initiative, Change Management turns out to be a strategic ongoing capability in today’s business dynamics.

  • Innovation Innovation is the most needed change, it is the core activity of human evolution to change the environment for making collective progress. The highly intensive changes do not happen in isolation from each other in predictable ways, but act as a complex system discipline, amplifying and ameliorating change effects and creating synergy.

  • Initiatives Business is nowadays complex, to manage business initiatives successfully, logical scenarios and different information are needed to achieve high performance. The more stakeholders can impact a business initiative seriously, the better chance the change will exceed the business expectations.

  • Initiatives Organizations today are inundated with the sea of information, overloaded with operation and short-term business concerns; and overwhelmed with too many initiatives. Organizations have a variety of stakeholders, behind many critical business initiatives, there are numerous points of view and reference points.

Blogging is not about writing, but about thinking of new ideas; sharing, and innovating. It’s not just about WHAT to say, but about WHY to say, and HOW to say it. It reflects the color and shade of your thought patterns, and it indicates the peaks and curves of your thinking waves. Unlike pure entertainment, quality, and professional content take time for digesting, contemplation, and engaging, and therefore, it takes time to attract the "hungry minds" and the "deep souls." It’s the journey to amplify diverse voices and deepen digital footprints, and it's the way to harness your innovative spirit.

Reinventglobalsociety

Global leaders and professionals should embrace different perspectives, develop a clear vision, clarify common values, and build trust in a dynamic, global working environment.

We co-share this beautiful planet with billions of people; global vision has broadened perspectives, global wisdom has enriched context, global value is multifaceted; global culture has deep historical roots. So constant knowledge refinement and continuous re-imagination of a global society is crucial to expedite collective progress and drive changes for advancing humanity.

Global vision: We all know the saying: "We must be the change we wish to see in the world." Global leaders and professionals need to shape a clear vision and seek out collective potential they can unleash to shape the future of global society. It requires us to be willing to listen to diverse viewpoints and broaden our perspective to fix misperceptions. Forethoughtful globalists should broaden the view of global society, connect interdisciplinary dots across the global scope, ensure that the vision can be translated into the forward-thinking mindset and collective activities from leaders to the rest of the organization, help people stay focused, and drive the changes we all would like to see in the world.

Global value: The global environment is dynamic and uncertain, global citizens are experiencing the same world but perhaps perceive it subjectively. There is a disconnect between different generations of people, there are cognitive differences and there are cultural gaps. To bridge differences, it’s critical to deepen understanding of the diverse world and set a directional guide for solving complex problems in a global scope structurally.

Global professionals today need to understand the values of worldwide citizens; develop vision, empathy, and cohesion, and articulate a set of clearly defined values that they can bring to the table, such as inclusiveness, respect, trust, empathy, fairness, etc. They can abstract abundant information into fresh insight; and leverage advanced technologies and collaboration platforms to share ideas and clarify common values. They demonstrate the mindset, attitude, and behavior consistency in conveying those values clearly.

Global collaboration: Because nowadays, problems become more complex, problem-solving needs to take an interdisciplinary approach. In reality, there are still numerous problems that need to be solved collaboratively. It’s important to realize the clarified vision through collective efforts; open up fresh ideas for collaboration, bring invaluable inputs, and help the development of those ideas to innovative solutions.

Collaboration does create a sense of belonging; it’s important to break down silos, cultivate the zest for generating new ideas, seek out help and harness mass collaboration, focus on commercially relevant compounds, and achieve common global value, to come up with innovative solutions.

Conventional wisdom or common beliefs have their own limitations nowadays as the speed of changes is accelerated. Global leaders and professionals should embrace different perspectives, develop a clear vision, clarify common values, and build trust in a dynamic, global working environment, in which all sorts of components and ingredients are integrated into the global capacity to make a significant impact on advancing human society.

Initiatives

Run, grow, transform, keep the right balance, improving and creating multifaceted value constantly.
We live in a diverse and dynamic global society with a multigenerational, multi device workforce, multipolar knowledge centers, multi-cultural wisdom, and multifaceted innovation, etc.

The journey of globalization is more evolutionary than revolutionary; curvature than the straight line. It is critical to strike the right balance, think big and small; understand both narrow and wide, assess both low and high; put a stronger emphasis on empowering people, refining information & knowledge; catalyzing innovation, to reach the next level of business maturity.

Small & Big: We live in a small, flatter world due to hyperconnectivity and interdependence. The pervasive information growth and frequent disruptions means change is the norm and happens the whole time. With blurred territories and abundant information, Big Data is about those small tweaks that might help to solve big business problems. It’s important to discover the leverage to scale up.

Start small and create a core team and in the process, identify resources from other areas that can assist with the big data analysis initiative preferably in a function of the companies to implement for developing the business competency. Discover those critical bits and bytes, filter out the noise of big data in order to make sound big judgments, achieve business value, and improve customer satisfaction.

Narrow & Wide: The internet and collaborative platforms and tools flatten the world to a certain degree, it requires us to be willing to listen to diverse viewpoints, broaden the perspective to fix misperceptions, diagnose the real problems in order to solve them smoothly. Organizations have limited budgets, resources and skill sets, while the management has lots of things going on in their agenda. Without prioritizing scientifically, they couldn’t narrow down the most crucial issues that need to be fixed, assign proper resources and talent to make real change happen. Also, in order to narrow down to the right issues practically, people need to broaden their vision and have a wider perspective for shaping a big picture of what they plan to solve strategically.

Usually “why” and “what” are wider, why “how, where, when, who, ” is narrow. After clarifying why to change which implies what to change somehow, they need to figure out where to change for generating ripple effects or creating the leverage to accelerate changes. To get value from big data. Especially those "deep and broad data sets”; you must add contextual information and place analytical capability in the hands of those who need it, taken from the world of critical bits and bytes and converted into real insight & foresight for real businesspeople. Business leaders and professionals need to continue learning, broaden their perspective on varying issues, narrow down their focus, to improve problem-solving effectiveness and efficiency.

Low & High:
To stretch up and reach high, we might need to crunch down and be humble. Either individually or professionally, we need to keep learning, growing, innovating, to build the high level of professional competency. To achieve high performance results, the vision needs to be high enough, but it’s also important to grab some low hanging fruit. Pay more attention to the scope, status, talent, and resources. Organizations that achieve the seamless alignment, integration, collaboration, and synchronization will outperform their competitors and tend to be highly responsive to the business dynamic

A high level of autonomy is the symbol of digital maturity at an individual, team, or organizational level. “Low” doesn’t mean low morality, but means humility. High vision, long-term perspective, objective perception often come from the mind with the high level of cognitive maturity which means high spirit and humble attitude; big picture and laser focus for leading transformational changes.

The business world has shifted from industrial age to information age, now in the digital era, the fundamentals of management concepts are still the same. The high mature digital organization can bring a greater awareness of intricacies, and systematic understanding of people dynamics, resource alignment, and technological impact. Run, grow, transform, keep the right balance, improving and creating multifaceted value constantly.

Hong Kong with Beautiful Scenery of Pacific Ocean

I went to quite a few interesting places, took advantage of different transportation tools and passed through one of the longest bridges connecting Hong Kong and Macau.

I flew from Tokyo to Hong Kong to participate in exhibitions and conferences. The weather was transiting from 2 degree winter time to 20 degree Fahrenheit spring summer day. The passengers on the flight started changing clothes when the flight almost arrived in Hong Kong,  taking off the thick winter coat and wore shirts or even shorts only.

In the Airport Express shuttle bus I saw the beautiful Pacific Ocean at the moment of sunset, the stars started rising up and the street light started to light up; the ships moved promptly at the sea and the skyscrapers stood solidly, guarding over the ocean. Hong Kong is charming as it always does.

In the morning of the second day. I walked across the Tsim Sha Tsui promenade on the Victoria Harbor. It’s a beautiful sunshine warm day, the ocean looks calm and translucent, the landmark architectural buildings standing around the oceanfront are well designed; the surroundings were quiet as shops and restaurants were not open yet. There were very few people in the park. It truly demonstrated “the elegance of solitude and “harmony of nature ” theme.

I walked through the park and visited the Hong Kong science museum. There were environmental science sections, space science, nature history section, chemistry experiments demonstration, science fiction section, etc. But I did not see any robots cheering us up. I know Hongkongers are very proud of their robot design. Where are they, I look forward to seeing them in the future

The history museum nearby was not open, I was a bit disappointed, then I saw the big two-layer bus going to Macau port, so I jumped on and decided to visit Macau, the cross border city of Hong Kong with some shared pacific ocean coast scene. There is a great river bridge which is about 35 miles long connecting Hong Kong and Macau; it made the cross border transportation much easier, we should truly appreciate those human made miracles.

I walked around downtown Macau, had lunch; it’s the modern city mixing old and new, lots of renovation projects going on. I also took the local bus to pass through the city. As the schedule was tight, I didn't get the chance to visit a few tourist hotspots and took the ferry going back to Hong Kong.

The water bus trip made me think about Venice in which I spent a couple of days there in November. Local people there use the ferry as the major transportation tool like taking buses in other cities. Here in Asia, people are more cautious, there are complete safety procedures and equipment available on the waterway trips.

It was a fulfilling day; as I went to quite a few interesting places and used different transportation tools and passed through one of the longest bridges connecting Hong Kong and Macau. People are friendly across the border. Overall speaking we live in the modern world with natural beauty and human made miracles.

Seafood Meals and Bus Tour in Tokyo

The journey in Tokyo was almost wrapped up, I appreciated global strangers’ help, enjoyed the fresh seafood and Eastern culture charm there.

Japan has a long ocean coast and is famous for seafood and sushi. In the early morning, I headed to the Tsukiji outer market in which restaurants and shops sell fresh seafood such as tuna salmon shrimp crab lobster, etc. Quite a few people have started tasting seafood treats already.

I picked a small restaurant and ordered steamed rice with fresh salmon pieces; there were a total of eight pieces of fish and cost about 1500 yen. It was fresh seafood and tasted fine.

After that, I took the bus to enjoy the city scenes of Tokyo and took off at the street I saw on the Japanese TV sitcom when I was in high school; I guess there are quite a lot of stories happening in big Tokyo.

Then I jumped on the bus again, headed to the middle town of Tokyo, the bus passed through many narrower streets and residential areas; there were very few people outside compared to tourists' hot spots. The bus passed through the philosophy hall and garden. When the bus almost reached its final destination, I took off and looked around, following the crowd towards the other indoor walking street called Broadway; there were all sorts of shops and restaurants with traditional cultural themes similar to the Guan Yin Tong street nearby where I lived.

Then, I went to Shinjuku, and walked around the broader streets there; it’s a modern area with cool shops and eateries; I had another seafood meal -cooked salmon plus Japanese-style appetizers and rice. In Tokyo, seafood is popular and usually expensive but you can still find some good deals to fit your taste. There are many hustling and bustling streets across the city but you can discover the quiet places as well. I also visited Tokyo University with a nice environment.

The journey in Tokyo was almost wrapped up; I appreciated global strangers' help and enjoyed the fresh seafood and Eastern culture charms there.

Tokyo Parks and Museums

Whether East or West, contemporary global citizens appreciate the quintessence of anthropologic museums and recreational parks & zoos with natural beauty.

On the second and third day in Japan, I visited a few science and art museums, and royal parks in Tokyo. In the early morning of the second day, I took the trains across Tokyo city center, running through the Pacific Ocean coast. After about fifty minutes of riding, I arrived at the Tokyo Science and Innovation Museum. That is the ten-floor modern-designed building, but the science exhibitions are only located on the second and fifth floors.

Inside the halls, there are environmental science, health science, physics experiments, planet, and education sessions. A lady robot can have short conversations with people if you speak Japanese, designed as a senior companion. A robot at the center of the hall greets the audience; the other two robot dolls and two robot dogs also cheer the audience. The exhibitions are limited but educational, making us reimagine the future of modern society.

Tokyo transportation tickets are a bit confusing, as their subways were run by different companies; even though I bought a 72-hour subway pass, I still need to pay for bus tickets and certain subways. It cost me 1000 plus yen for transportation only without counting museum ticket costs.

After that I headed to Ueno Park in the city center; inside the park, there were a few museums I planned to visit. However, that was Monday, and they were closed, so I decided to come back the next day.

Ueno Park is located on a hill with fountains, plants, sculptures, and a few museums & zoos, I think it is one of the most popular parks in Tokyo. In the late afternoon, I took the train to head back to the hotel. After exiting the subway, I observed that the street was named after the Asian female Buddha Guan Yin. Lots of tourists walked around in this culture-enriched street nearby, reflecting Japanese fashion and tradition.

On the morning of the third day, I visited the Science Museum of Tokyo located in the city center. There are industry revolution sessions, bicycle automobile design sessions, nature science sessions, and some science experiments sessions. Like many other science museums across the globe, local students come here for their science study. I liked the ten-minute 3-D movie which took us to the tropic forest with dinosaurs and other creatures with fantastic visual effects.

The Tokyo National Art Museum was temporarily closed. So I went to the Tokyo Western Art Museum, walking through the different sections of the painting, most of them are oil paintings that the museum bought from Western nations. There are some sculptures, photographs, and a very limited collection of other types of art.

Besides human creation, let’s embrace nature. I also visited the zoo in the Ueno park and saw elephants, monkeys, and bears playing around. It is a chilly windy day, do they feel cold? I also visited the Royal Garden in the city center; there are nice landscaping design, and the lake with ducks swimming around, I didn’t see any swans there; but the scale of the garden is compatible with the city park in London. Even though it is the winter season, there are some roses and other flowers with colorful themes inside the park.

Whether East or West, contemporary global citizens appreciate the quintessence of anthropologic museums and recreational parks with natural beauty. We learn from history and reinvent human society continually.

Global strangers in Tokyo gave me a hand at the first day

It was windy and also very chilly. but friendly global strangers here made me feel warm inside and had a nice first day here.
After a 16 hour flight and transfer, I arrived in Tokyo in the mid afternoon on the weekend. The information center at the international airport was very professional. When I asked them about transportation, the lady working there provided me with comprehensive notes about it. When I was at the platform to wait for the train to the city center, I confirmed with global strangers to ensure I would embark in the right direction; the lady used the app to help me confirm it, very friendly

It took about half an hour for the train to arrive at the subway station I should take off. With my two pieces of luggages, I just couldn’t find the elevator. There were steep stairs, and I asked a young man’s help to carry my luggage. He was very friendly, even wanted to carry both of them. I had him take the large one. I myself took a smaller one. It was the long steep stairs and in fact, there was no elevator in that exit. I appreciated the gentleman's help.

When I walked on the street to find the hotel, a couple of global strangers both female and male helped me navigate the direction, so I found the hotel smoothly. In the hotel you need to change your shoes to the slippers at the front desk lobby and put it into the locker That keeps the floors at the different levels clean. That is a nice tradition in Japan.

At night, I walked across the nearby trendy street with lots of eateries and shops which sell different consumer merchandise. There are some statues and tourist hot spots, and locals and tourists walk around. It's a dynamic area especially at night.

My first dinner in Tokyo was a beef rice bowl plus some snacks, which cost me about 800 yen. It was considerably thrifty there. The price of food is varying; less than 1000 yen is considered cost efficient.

So the first day of my journey here went smoothly. It was a sunny day in Japan; in the late afternoon, it was windy and also very chilly like London. but friendly global strangers here made me feel warm inside and had a nice first day here.

The Journey for Visiting Europe

From the West to the East hemisphere, we co-share this beautiful planet. As humans, we are more the same than different.

I
n mid-January, I wrapped up the 22-city visit tour in Europe, and took a flight across the Pacific Ocean, heading to Tokyo Japan.

This winter I have had a fulfilling journey visiting twenty-two cities across Europe;  most of the time took various public transport tools: airplanes, trains, or buses to visit many cities with deep anthropological roots and cultural enrichment

I went to Frankfurt to participate in one of the biggest book fairs in the world, also went to Berlin, Munich, and Heidelberg Germany, visiting their famous architectural landmarks, science, art, and history museums; walking through the trendy streets; enjoying the botanical gardens and tasting their local bakery and food. I hope I can follow our common ancestors, take the philosophical path, and gain global insight.

After that, I flew to London England,  impressed by its metropolitan global city atmosphere and enriched cultural vibes. I also visited Cambridge, Oxford, Bath, Bristol, Birmingham, Salisbury etc. I gained knowledge about those ivy towns and visited respectful author Jane Austen’s hometown. I visited college campuses; went to varying parks; passed through different river banks; walked across churches, city halls, big streets, or small alleys up and down, and explored the quintessential of historic heritage or local legendary stories.

Then, I visited Paris and nearby towns, the grandeur museums squares and fashionable streets, ruly attract numerous tourists to come every year. The enriched art and big city surroundings brought us some clues about the European style of culture and human evolution pathway.

I also visited Switzerland which is famous for its snowy mountains. But I went to the urban cities of Geneva and Zurich; enjoying Swan Lake and the peaceful charm of Geneva. Unbelievably, swans are my companion on Thanksgiving day. I also went to the commercial hub Zurich on a black Friday rainy day, passing through their mother river Zurich, and enjoyed the holiday theme in the city.

I visited a few famous cities in Italy with natural beauty and human creativity: Milan’s Galleria, Venice's water buses and river scenes, Rome’s architectural buildings; Bolzano snow mountain scenery, etc all of which drew great pictures of their nation.

I spent a few days in Brussels, Belgium.  It was full of holiday fairy tale themes with Christmas markets and ornaments, fictional figures, and giant castles. It was so amazing that I met lovely swans again in England and I saw quite a few beautiful swan lakes in London recently, making my Christmas holiday cheerful.

It’s time to say goodbye. I took European airlines and stopped over in Helsinki, Finland which claimed itself as the happiest nation in the world. I bought the boxes of chocolate as gifts and will visit here again in the future.

I landed in Tokyo safely with a smooth overnight trip. From West to East hemisphere, we co-

share this beautiful planet. As humans, we are more the same than different. I will go back and forth between East and West frequently. I hope I can visit all continents soon. As a passenger, I appreciate global strangers' help.  As a globalist, I’ll continue my journey to explore the unknown and bridge the world of differences.

Initiatives

Change Management needs to be the multidimensional management approach which has to be woven into processes, structures, communications, cultures, and actions of the organization.

The pervasive information growth and frequent disruptions means change is the norm and happens the whole time. The speed of change is accelerating. Either individually or from an organizational perspective, managing change is no longer a one-time initiative, Change Management turns out to be a strategic ongoing capability in today’s business dynamics.

It’s important to identify change agents who can initiate and sustain changes relentlessly: Each person has their own change curve and as a change agent, you should learn how to drive change proactively rather than adapting to change only. It’s critical to motivate people to acquire relevant knowledge, develop changeability, and then truly make change happen.

There is the right timing for change, right people leading changes, and right reasons for changes. Changing too slowly could stifle growth. Change too fast perhaps has difficulty in sustaining the result - only change behaviors manually, not change the mindset behind it. For business changes, change managers know the cost of implementing the change; they know the value of anticipated benefits and deliverables.

It's important to understand how change capabilities are underpinned by change processes, people, and technology: Ineffective processes & tools slow down the speed of change, waste time and resources. Dynamic change management requires much more effective collaboration and optimized processes. Effective change management is underpinned by great people, cohesive processes and efficient technology for minimizing cost, time and risk whilst maximizing scalable solutions.

In practice, accomplish change by identifying the pain points through well-developed processes. It means to make a radical shift from a silo and linear classic management style to holistic solution. Change management is an ongoing business capability with multi-stepped processes that include both change resolution and change management disciplines and practices.

It’s important to make an objective assessment of whether change efforts achieve the expected business results: You can only manage what you measure. The majority of Change Management fail because of poor performance management. It’s important to establish a future state and understand the intended outcome of the future state. At the end of the day, change is never for its own sake, it’s about business improvement or innovation.

The lack of accountability keeps companies from reaching their potential. Subtracting cost from anticipated value gives people or organizations a net anticipated value of the change if fully and successfully implemented. that you need management to sponsor and reinforce the change initiatives. Change Management needs to be the multidimensional management approach which has to be woven into processes, structures, communications, cultures, and actions of the organization.

In today's over-complex work environment, change is happening at a more rapid pace. Change Management, therefore, should be an adequate, logical, and systematic effort to any environmental shift. If you make change part of your operation routine, then change becomes easier to deal with, and even become an ongoing core business capability.

Globalsameness

We become global citizens because we are more alike than different; we like each other to a certain degree even though we are strangers; we understand each other empathetically.
The global world is diversified and dynamic, and global value is multi-dimensional; in fact, the global society is complex with all sorts of perspectives. Global citizens are experiencing the same world, but perhaps perceive it subjectively.

However, as humans, we are more alike than different. It's possible to build common ground, clarify common values, discover common interests, and solve problems with common best practices in order to build a harmonized global society.

The commonality is that "the box" tends to be what everyone with experience in the topic can identify as being "commonly known": Each one of us has different cognitive patterns, knowledge resources, and personal perceptions. It’s important to socialize with similar-minded talented people for deepening understanding of issues we are commonly interested in. Also learn from people who think differently.  It’s crucial to broaden the perspective by embracing complementary thoughts, expanding our thinking boxes, scrutinizing your way, my way and figuring out alternative common ways to do things.

Discovering global sameness is an interesting journey for people to co-share this beautiful planet. We become global citizens if we share knowledge, build common ground, deepen our understanding of global issues in order to solve problems with global impact.

Focusing on the commonalities that we all have as human beings is a great way to create cross boundary understanding, cohesion, and collaboration: The intensity of darkness varies with each of us, and so is our understanding and action under the same situation or different circumstances. From surface interesting facts understanding to deeper cause-effect reasoning, common understanding can be at many levels and it has to be explained from many perspectives.

If there is not a common understanding, change would get stuck. It's important to practice global thinking with multi-dimensional intelligence to show the benefits of having a common understanding that change needs to be made and problems should be solved.

There are far fewer differences between them than points they have in common, commonalities that can create the base for collaboration: Interdependence and cooperation rather than domination are the only way to advance global communities. Teamwork and unity bring complementary strength and amplify collective potential.

We go deeper to diagnose real problems and deal with them thoughtfully. Cross-disciplinary collaboration and integral processes enable global leaders and professionals to look at the wider aspects around problem space, and then understand the effect of imposing boundaries within that space, in order to frame the commonly agreeable, right problem and solve it in a structural way.

We become global citizens because we are more alike than different; we like each other to a certain degree even though we are strangers; we understand each other empathetically; as global communication is a threshold to connect minds and hearts, local and global, today and future seamlessly. We go deeper to diagnose common interesting problems and deal with them collaboratively to advance humanity.

Paddington Bears

London’s fictional figures evokes our imagination; London’s dozens of train stations are important hubs connecting nation, and the European continent.
Besides Kings Cross, Paddington is the area I am sort of familiar with, passing through frequently in London.

Last month, I saw the statue of a group of fictional figures - a group of cute animals having a meal together near the Paddington station. I figured out recently that a statue crafted in bronze is called the “wild table of love” spreading messages of love, acceptance, and adventure for animals who travel around.

Yesterday, when I was in Paddington station, I discovered a few cute bears who dressed and acted differently, perhaps working in different professions, greeting tourists around. That is Paddington bear. I found one lovely Paddington bear on Platform one, who watched over the surroundings. I also found two bears in the gift shop at the station. who dressed like the staff working at the station.

I checked the website; there is the legendary story behind a little bear, Paddington. His home was destroyed in Peru in the Second World War, his aunt sent him to London, he took the adventure to explore, grow, win respect and gain popularity. I guess he became a symbol of peace and hard work.

I walked across the Paddington station and arrived in the Paddington basin, which is called little Venice. It was very windy, there was a small lake with a few modern look restaurants, cafes. Surprisingly, I found another cute Paddington near the lake, who was dressed in a blue uniform, very cute, bright, professional, greeting tourists friendly.

London’s fictional figures evokes our imagination; London’s dozens of train stations are important hubs connecting nation, and the European continent. People like little Paddington bear, work hard, travel around, explore the world and change society proactively.

London’s King’s Cross

There is deep cultural influence and anthropogenic enrichment in King’s cross London.
The day after I returned to London, it was a chilly cold day, so I decided to go to the British library near the King's Cross station to do some research.

That was Monday morning, I saw there were hundreds of people already lined up to enter the library; it would be open at 10 am rather than 9:30, like other weekdays, so the line of people had to wait longer than usual in the cold morning. As usual, all sorts of professionals or students spent hours there learning or working quietly.

A snowing afternoon in London: After lunch time I went out, took a rest. Unbelievably snowflakes danced around in the sky, the pedestrians, many of them were perhaps tourists who paced up to continue their journey in this snowing afternoon. Some of them also look excited in their faces, as there has been a lot of rain recently. It's the first time I saw snow on my visit here this winter.

King’s Cross transport/commercial hub
: I hung around in the King’s Cross national and international stations in which I took my Europe journey back and forth recently. Here is not just a crucial transport hub but also a hot shopping center. The holiday lighting and decorations are still there. There were musicians playing pianos in the hallway while people sipping their coffee or tea in the cafe; walking through the shops nearby

In fact, transportation stations are unique scenes. People come and go to continue their own journey. They come to the new place with excitement, put their hopes on to explore unknown. Some demonstrate anxiety because they are strangers here. Others get back home to relax. They become part of scenes for our dynamic world.

Besides watching over the antique look of historical buildings, I also walked around Pancras Square a couple of times, enjoying the modern sleek atmosphere with lots of cool businesses, trendy eateries and shops. Both locals and tourists enjoy hanging around there.

Ideal Beauty exhibition: Walking a bit further away, I visited the “Cult of beauty” exhibition in the collection museum again. The theme of “ideal beauty,” “heavenly beauty,” broadens our view of the human body, our physical shapes and spiritual aura.

There are sculptures and pictures about the shapes and constructions of the human body; there are anthropological instructions of how humans pursue physical beauty and spiritual harmony. There are some enlightened decorations, not just catching our eyeballs, but also awakening our consciousness of who we are, how we appreciate the beauty of being human. I also like the short movie with articulation of narratives conveying the struggling journey on how people pursue beauty and how society responds to it. Do we have common aesthetic standards, can we appreciate and understand the diversity of beauty? Although there’s only a limited collection, it evokes our imagination of human potential and our thoughts of the cult of beauty.

Charles Dickens museum: I walked around the Nearby area, Charles Dickens museum is not so far away; it took me a while to get there. Unfortunately, the museum was not open on Monday, so I was a bit disappointed. Observing the museum from the outside, it is just like Jane Austen’s museum in Bath, it is a modest town house located in a quiet nice neighborhood with the signs and instructions.

I checked the museum website; inside the museum, the audience could see the table on which Dickens wrote his books. I read through quite a few of Dickens’s 15 novels, I like “Christmas Carols” and wrote a blog about it during the Christmas time a couple of years ago; I also read “Great Expectations”; “a tale of two cities” and a few others, being impressed on Dickens insight about social phenomena, culture, traditions in England in his era. I thought his writing made a significant impact on social systems, Industrial Revolution, societal progress and children's education, as his works have been translated into different languages across the world.

On the second morning, the snow has melted away. So we didn’t have the chance to see London wrapped in the white Snow blanket, like the fantastic scenery I saw in Munich, Germany last month. The good thing about it is that the transport systems function smoothly in this commercial hub King’s Cross, and people go back and forth across the UK, Europe continent and the global world freely. There is deep cultural influence and anthropological enrichment in King’s cross London.

My Eastern Style Lunch in Europe

For the lunch in the mid-day to boost my energy, I need nutritional food, flavoring taste, cost effective price and fast delivery to ensure I can continue taking my daily journey with fresh energy, positive mentality, creative thoughts and high productivity.
Most cities I visited in England and Europe are mid or large metropolitan areas, blending with Western themes and Eastern charm, with diversity of food and culinary.

So usually I have plenty of choices to select what I want to eat by evaluating nutrition, flavor and cost. If I had the western style breakfast in the early morning, I perhaps want to have an Eastern flavor lunch for recharging myself with different tastes and ingredients.

I like noodles a lot. I often eat Japanese udon, Chinese beef noodle or Vietnamese Pho bowl for lunch. They are all noodle soups mixed with some meat and veggies, pretty flavorful. Compared to the western style fast food, they are usually more expensive; but the authentic flavor and tasteful soup provides certain nutrients that burgers and soft drinks couldn’t bring to us.

I also like egg fried rice or steamed brown or white rice with some tasteful dishes or separate Soup bowls. Rice provides balanced nutrition, less fat, keeping us fit. Eastern style dishes with spices are tasty, fresh, and could satisfy our stomach and boost our energy.

Sometimes, Korean tofu hot pot, Chinese wonton soup, Japanese sushi, and Thai food plates are lovely treats. Tofu has high plant protein; wonton wrapped with meat seafood or veggie has an authentic oriental taste; sushi is always popular for people like fish.

We live in the hybrid modern society; we have abundant choices for our meals to fit our needs & wants, and recharge our energy. If Western style brunches recharge my energy, then an eastern flavored lunch rejuvenates my spirit.

For the lunch in the mid-day to boost my energy, I need nutritional food, flavoring taste, cost effective price and fast delivery to ensure I can continue taking my daily journey with fresh energy, positive mentality, creative thoughts and high productivity.

Profundity

Being profound means consistency- be consistent in the habit of thinking, learning, acting, and problem-solving to develop professional competency.

T
he global world today has become much more hyper-connected, and interdependent than ever, the boundary of business domains is blurred and the scope of knowledge is expanded in the continual base.

Profundity is important to connect the mind, bridge the difference, demonstrate better understanding, and show empathy to be an influential global professional. It enables people to become more insightful, persuasive, and influential.

Being profound means contextual understanding, clear discernment, empathetic communication: The world is complex. It becomes complex if things do interact, particularly in the case of nonlinear interactions. Lack of in-depth understanding leads to “fixing symptoms, not the root cause” syndrome. How deep your understanding is based on the logic, lenses, philosophy, the methodology you leverage to interpret things.

It is the responsibility of each individual to examine themselves and to make sure they are open to true understanding. Context aids us in understanding what’s relevant and what’s not. It is about understanding the interrelationships and correlations that offer access to new perspectives and fresh insights, and interpreting them in a cohesive way.

Being profound means interdisciplinary expertise, systematic logic, unconventional wisdom: In today’s digital world, logic is often nonlinear and multidimensional. People gain a clear discernment when they explore the cognitive process of acquiring new knowledge through thoughts, experiences, and senses, the cognition involves exploring varieties of meanings/thoughts, abandoning old and establishing new relations.

The conventional mind is bound by certain group beliefs and general practices, unconventional wisdom often means fresh insight or “out-of-the-box” thinking, unique perspective. For solving complex problems, learn to apply systematic logic to take on a broad open perspective, see interdependence between different issues, predict emerging events, and come up with a solution. True wisdom leads to putting more thoughts into the issue you take a look at, searching for fresh ideas and widening the possibility of coming up with alternative solutions.

Being profound means objective reasoning, emotional balance, multidimensional influence: To be objective and discover the truth, we must think critically, independently, and remove the “old box” shaped by outdated knowledge, subjective perception or group thinking. Being objective really means you will always see the two sides of a coin, listen to the stories from different perspectives; and understand things via interdisciplinary perspectives.

Professional influence is based on clear vision, strong logic, deep insight and persuasive communication. Being profound means having emotional excellence to address ignorance and assumption, making sound judgment based on unbiased fact, dispassionate examination, and deep observation.

Global society is a blender of hyper-diversity and interactive continuum with collective human progress. Being profound means consistency- be consistent in the habit of thinking, learning, acting, and problem-solving to develop professional competency. It’s important to keep consistent on ourselves, what we think, what we say, or what we act, deal with the nonlinear, multi-logical situations via cross boundary understanding, and co-shape an advanced global world coherently.

Recharge energy with Western style brunch

We all have our own favorite food for breakfast; either it’s continental or personalized style, the nutrition balance and fresh choice to keep us healthy is important to refresh ourselves and have a great day.

I took the journey to visit dozens of European cities recently; often western style brunches recharge my energy, boost my spirit to do research, visit fantastic new places, take walking tours to get familiar with different city districts, dig into culture roots of varying metropolitan areas, leave the footprints for understanding the global society with empathy and grow into a true global leader interactively.

Breakfast with all flavors all over places: Quite a few hotels offer nutritional breakfast with multiple options of drinks, breads, jams, meats, desserts, cereal, fruits. So we can pick the foods to fit our own taste and refresh ourselves with some delight. Usually I like hot chocolate in the winter time, also enjoy juice or breakfast tea. I like toasted wheat bread with jam. In Switzerland, there were more fresh fruits I could pick. In Paris, there are quite many drinks I could choose. In Venice, the breakfast dessert is very delicious. In Brussels there were all sorts of Jam to choose from. I observed the guests in the hotel, they ate up all the food they put on their plate, and didn't waste the food. In Berlin, Germany, I bought their fresh made breakfast in the local bakery, very creamy and delicious. In London, I ordered some traditional English breakfast with local tea. Usually that includes bread slices, eggs, sausage, beans or other veggies, I like Oliver as the appetizer a lot.

If I missed the early morning breakfast, to save time and cost, I also like McDonald’s fresh muffins, cheeseburgers, hash brown and hot drinks as brunch. Their fast delivery and coherent quality made me like their brand name.

Some hotels provide a simple breakfast for guests. The breakfast I had this morning was wheat bread with jams plus coffee. It’s ok to give me energy to walk through the new city for a couple of hours. Sometimes I ordered my breakfast tea without dessert in the mid morning. That also boost my energy, clean up my stomach and keep me fit

Although my breakfast is not luxurious, there is no lobster tail or fish roll with it. It keeps me energized with enough protein, fiber, vitamin, etc, to take the journey day by day. We all have our own favorite food for breakfast; either it’s continental or personalized style, the nutrition balance and fresh choice to keep us healthy is important to refresh ourselves and have a great day.
