Union Square in San Francisco

Tourists come and go, I guess they all have good memories of Union Square, with its colorful themes, stylish buildings, diverse atmosphere, and urban charm.

I have visited San Francisco many times. I always hurried up, participating in some events or finishing some work, and headed back to the suburb home before.

But this summer, I have the opportunity to slow down my paces and hang around in the city center of San Francisco, enjoying its urban charm. One of the great places I enjoyed is Union Square located at the uphill of the downtown area.

I sat at the blue chair with a blue table covered by the blue umbrella, pondering around, wondering about, watching the hop-in-off tourist bus running through the neighborhood, pigeons flying over, scattering around the square. The sunlight sparkled on us; the breeze touched our faces. People at the square all relax a bit, sipping coffee or tea, reading, listening to music, chatting, or taking pictures. It's truly a cool place with unique city charm, stylish decorations, and an urban atmosphere. The interesting thing is, although it is the early July summer day, people wear all sorts of clothes; some wear thick colorful winter jackets, and others wear t-shirts and shorts. Amazingly, the weather is chilly and warm at the same time in the beautiful morning in San Francisco.

Union Square is surrounded by well-designed architectural buildings, brand-name department stores, local hotels, and restaurants. Plants and different colors of heart-shaped sculptures decorate the square. There are two cafes inside the square, but only one cafe opens in the morning, the other one perhaps opens in the afternoon time. There are plenty of seats where you can sit down and take a break, make some deep observations about the city,  and do things you like.
