Global professionals today need to articulate a set of clearly-defined values that they can bring to the table, leverage advanced technology and collaboration platforms to share ideas, and brainstorm common concerns. Global professionals today need to shape the fitting mindset, and make multidimensional influence.

The global world is diversified and complex, and global value is a multi-dimensional concept. Contemporary global professional intelligence is contextual. You need to have judgmental intelligence to make sound decisions; strategic intelligence to diagnose critical problems; paradoxical intelligence to strike the right balance; system intelligence to understand interrelationships between parts and the whole; cultural intelligence to know people or societies with empathy, and risk intelligence to handle varieties of business issues with a clearly defined set of principles and practices effectively.

It takes vision, strategy, and a lot of innovative activities, as well as patience to run a successful global organization: Being global means you expand the horizon, develop interdisciplinary knowledge proficiency, cultivate cultural intelligence, and have a variety of experiences for spurring innovation across the globe. Envisioning, guiding, communicating, acting, exemplifying are all logical steps in building global competency.

The senior management needs to clarify what the organizational brand name is for, how the company wants its stakeholders to perceive their organization world-widely, and the reputation connotation it wants its stakeholders to associate to for developing a strong corporate name. They have to continue sharing their viewpoint about things or events happening in their surroundings, their perspective of future global society; their roles in making desired changes, how to build global capacity, generate competitive value and global growth.

Global professionals are motivated to help themselves and businesses move up to the global growth trajectory: People grew up differently and they usually have perception discrepancy of the world. So to develop global professionalism, people from different regions, religions, and cultural differences should refine their knowledge into more unified insight; compare personal/family values with national, global values, etc. Being “global” involves a strong intention to focus on moving up to the global growth trajectory. Professional globalists are visionaries, experts, influencers, customer champions, humble learners and practitioners of all sorts of, who can initiate global conversations that spur creativity in diverse domains of expertise.

Global leaders and professionals in all realms of the human experience should get familiarize themselves with the cross-disciplinary effects of globalization. There is the “growth pain,” and it takes practice to build a competitive team which is composed of self-motivated people who can adopt a personal drive to grow themselves professionally in changing contexts.
