Tianjin, a city that blends Eastern and Western influences and integrates the past and the present, has left a deep impression on me.
When I set foot on the land of Tianjin, I was filled with anticipation for this charming city. It's like a wonderful book waiting to be read, each page filled with stories and surprises.Ancient Culture Street: My first stop was Ancient Culture Street. The area was filled with a bustling cultural atmosphere, and quaint shops abounded. The vibrant colors and vivid images tell a story. A variety of traditional street snacks are also available, such as the twisted dough sticks are crispy, delicious, and fragrant. There were lots of gift shops that sell traditional handicrafts and art.
Riverside: Next, I arrived at the Tianjin Mother River-Haihe River, which flows through Tianjin like a blue ribbon, the city's soul. The river shimmered, and the breeze rippled the water. The riverside buildings are distinctive, ranging from modern skyscrapers to ancient bridges steeped in historical charm. I strolled along the riverbank, admiring the beautiful scenery on both sides, and watching the Tianjin Eye spinning around. Occasionally, I'd spot a pleasure boat slowly sailing by, the laughter and chatter of tourists adding a touch of life to the scene. Everything here was refreshing and delightful. Tianjin boasts many bridges, each beautifully designed and named, and truly thought-provoking.
The Drum Tower: Located in the heart of the Old City in Nankai District, Tianjin, the Tianjin Drum Tower is one of the "Three Treasures" of Tianjin. It was originally used as a bell tower for telling time and opening and closing the city gates. It was actually a "bell tower," not a drum tower. When the Drum Tower was first built, it housed an iron bell weighing approximately 1,500 kilograms, the sound of which could be heard for thirty miles. The bell was rung fifty-four times each morning and evening, signaling the opening and closing of the city gates and serving as a time reference for the people of Tianjin. Today, the Drum Tower stands as a historical and cultural landmark in Tianjin, with the surrounding Drum Tower Commercial Street integrating tourism, culture, and commerce, making it a prime location for experiencing Tianjin's traditional charm.
Italian Architecture Complex: The Tianjin Italian Architecture Complex is the only intact Italian-style architectural complex in Asia. Located in Tianjin's Hebei District, it was the only Italian concession in modern China and now serves as Tianjin's Italian Style District. It encompasses nearly 200 classical European-style buildings designed by Italian architects. These include residences, consulates, barracks, schools, hospitals, churches, stadiums, markets, fire stations, gardens, and plazas. The buildings, spanning Gothic, Romanesque, and Baroque styles, hold immense historical, cultural, and artistic value.
Wudadao (Fifth Ave): It's a place resembling an international architectural expo. Strolling through the crisscrossing streets, I was struck by the dazzling array of buildings of varying styles. There were stately and elegant European classical buildings, their exquisite carvings and majestic columns reflecting their former glory; there were also small, exotic villas, their colorful walls and unique shapes telling stories of a bygone era. Sunlight filtered through the leaves onto the ancient streets, creating a shimmering light and shadow that seemed to tell of the passage of time. I felt as if I had traveled back in time, imagining the prosperity of yesteryear. This place is a perfect blend of history and art, and every corner exudes a unique charm.
As night fell and Tianjin lit up brightly, I was captivated by the vibrant streetscape, as if I had entered a fairytale, as if all my worries had been cast away.
In the morning of the second day, I visited the Tianjin Science and Technology Museum, Tianjin Museum, and Tianjin Natural History Museum:
Tianjin Science Museum: It's a place filled with both knowledge and fun. The various fascinating exhibits and interactive experiences made me feel like I was immersed in a world of science. The Tianjin Science and Technology Museum is divided into five themed exhibition areas: "Discovery," "Wisdom," "Self-Knowledge," "Robotics," and "Dreams." These exhibition areas combine scientific knowledge, knowledge, fun, and engagement, allowing visitors to experience the charm of science through interactive experiences. In the charm of science, I not only gained knowledge but also had a lot of fun.
Tianjin Museum: The Tianjin Museum is a comprehensive museum of history and art. Its predecessor can be traced back to the Tianjin Museum, established in 1918, making it one of the earliest museums in China. The museum's collection features a balance of Chinese art from various dynasties, modern and contemporary historical documents, and local historical materials. It boasts nearly 200,000 items, including ancient bronzes, ceramics, calligraphy, paintings, jades, seals, stationery, oracle bones, coins, stamps, Dunhuang manuscripts, bamboo, wood, ivory, and horn artifacts, local folk crafts, and modern and contemporary historical documents, along with 200,000 books and materials.
Tianjin Natural History Museum: The museum boasts a long history and a rich collection, housing approximately 360,000 to 400,000 biological specimens, including multidisciplinary treasures from animals, plants, paleontology, and hominins. The museum also features a science theater, a 4D cinema, a dinosaur-themed restaurant, and an experiential entertainment area. The museum regularly hosts science events, research activities, and temporary exhibitions dedicated to enhancing public scientific literacy and ecological awareness.
Tianjin, a city that blends Eastern and Western influences and integrates the past and the present, has left a deep impression on me. Its architecture, culture, cuisine, and technology all exude unique charm. Each attraction is like a shining gem, connecting the dots in my global journey. I look forward to returning to this charming city one day and continuing to explore its essence. I believe that every trip to Tianjin can bring different perspectives and reimagine the future with humanity.
