Innerchange

It’s important to diagnose problems by digging into the mindset set, riding the learning curve to sustain change is an important perspective for making the change as a new normal.

In today's work environment, change is difficult because there is no one size fits all formula for change, there are a lot of soft touches.

Mindset is a very broad term, and people are complicated, our thought processes are complex, the psychology behind change is also complex, but it doesn't mean we can't change to improve who we are, how we think, and what we're doing. From sequence to consequence, mindset change is often the very first critical step in change for improving change management success.

Change the mindset - the software first, and then other hardware changes will follow: Change Management intends to change behaviors or actions. But behaviors are driven by attitude, attitude results from thoughts, assumptions, and preferences. Those are the result of years of habits and reinforcement. The fixed or rigid mind usually won’t allow people to think beyond a point, getting stuck at the old box and keeping the old way of doing things. Those mindsets can be described as static, resist, or reject, anything that affects the cozy comfort zone.

Mindset is at the heart of our belief system that we all hold and have formed over time and hard experience. Thus, we cannot change someone's mindset, only they can. But to make change as a habit, or drive transformative change, it’s important to make a mind shift: from reactive to proactive; from silo to inclusive, from resisting to embracing, from adapting to influencing. In fact, it is challenging to overcome the negative mentality, get out of the comfort zone, and fix problems at the mindset level thoroughly.

Understand the emotional cycle of change management; enhance cognitive ability to change: There are changes we desire, and some imposed on us. Change enablement through appropriate engagement is an important element of dealing with complexity management. There is so much psychology in openness to new perspectives and negative emotions (resistance to change, fear, etc.) that cause change inertia. Passion or calmness are sorts of positive change mentality to make tough decisions, think the longer turn, keep their sensitivity intact, and bring great change results. People with emotional excellence are objective, accountable, intellectual and thus, more progressive.

Mindset has abilities to think and respond cognitively. The more complex the change, the more complex the solution. The most important capability of the cognitive mind is the willingness and ability to seek out new knowledge, and address our ignorance and the assumptions we make to minimize it, in order to improve changeability. To improve cognitive ability to change, provide people with sufficient and updated information, navigate people through new experiences, expose them to additional information through those experiences, and doing that purposefully will create abundant opportunities to shift beliefs, mindsets, attitudes. Collectively, a changeable mindset is a success factor for any change management effort, a prerequisite to run a highly adaptive business.

It takes a lot of energy to break down old habits and outdated thought processes; or change the organization culture - the collective mindset and attitude
: Everyone has the ability to change their mindsets. Because every person has degrees of both open and closed mindsets in different contexts. However, changing mindsets is challenging, there is no “one size fits all” approach to address the different psychological responses and thereby reducing anxiety. Change cannot be just another thing that needs to be accomplished. It has to be woven into the collective mentality, process, communication, and action scenarios.

People will feel more emotionally connected when they understand “What’s In It For Me.” It is important to build up a positive emotional environment, deprogram old mindsets, reprogram people’s minds with digital thinking, updated knowledge, digital norms, positive attitudes, communicate relentlessly, empower change agents, inspire passionate employees, foster collaborative business relationships, and establish a new blueprint to inspire changes.

Change is chaotic, change management needs to be well designed and practiced systematically. Mind shift is one of the most challenging parts of Change Management. Thus, it’s important to diagnose problems by digging into the mindset set, riding the learning curve to sustain change is an important perspective for making the change as a new normal and differentiated business competency.
