Innovation

The quintessential of innovation is to reinvent business, but not to reinvent the wheels, rejuvenate creative energy and reinvent human society.

Due to the fact that innovating in today’s information abundant and rapid change, the world has become increasingly complex in nature. Being innovative indicates to be unconventional, unique, and fresh. When we have left the confines of other people's thoughts, connect the wider dots to generate fresh ideas, we have better opportunities to move into the next trajectory for growth and innovation. 

Surviving and thriving upon exponential growth of information, fierce competitions, and continuous disruptions requires cross-functional people working collaboratively to harness innovation constantly.

Innovativeness has a quintessential facet with the integration of multiple thought processes: Being innovative is a state of mind. Some individuals demonstrate more innovative traits than others. Creativity can start on an unconscious level, and then, when ideas start shaping, it is brought into our conscious awareness. The flashes of inspiration we now see retrospect as groundbreaking inventions or breakthrough innovations were driven by creative people not only far-sighted but firmly determined to make their ideas succeed, and generate value impressively.

Innovation is all about how to disrupt outdated thinking and the old way to do things, and figure out alternative solutions. The purpose of pursuing collective creativity or organizational innovativeness is based on the intent of the event was to develop a tangible result that did not currently exist. Often, organizations can no longer rely on a single individual to drive innovation. Collectively, a highly innovative team is composed of complementary mindsets and skill sets, they are able to embrace diverse viewpoints and maximize the collective potential.

Quintessential of innovation is trying new combinations of known things and figuring out the better ways to do things: Innovations can range from small to breakthrough. To expand the business horizon and explore the new possibilities, it is strategically imperative that people are willing to seek out fresh knowledge, break down boundaries, harness cross-functional communication, cross-disciplinary interactions for co-solving problems innovatively.

Forward-looking organizations experiment with different types of organizational processes, structure reinvention, to enforce business alignment, foster communication, and harmonize changes. Organizations explore new ways to do things and make radical shifts from multifaceted perspectives to reinvent the business for achieving innovation excellence, and reach the next level of organizational maturity.

If you understand the interconnectivity, you can define a starting point to break it through, absorb the quintessential, but discourage negative mindset or attitudes:
Until the underlying problem is addressed, the symptom will continue to return. An essential part of the 'problem-framing process' is to understand what your high-level outcomes are related to the issue, opportunity or problem. In order to get the “scope” of the problem, look at the problem from a different angle, deepen the understanding of the issues by stepping back, or getting out of the box.

You cannot choose between alternatives without being clear about your desired outcome. Understand the proposed solution and how it is expected to address the root cause you chose to address. If you consider being innovative is a state of mind with the creative process - a process of refinement and problem-solving, and then, all failures or successes are possible outcomes, and failure can be considered part of the learning curve to achieve next success.

Nowadays, innovation is complex, having enriched knowledge or versatile talent is foundational to create more fresh ideas in today’s sophisticated digital world, Knowledge shouldn’t confine our imagination. Rather, it’s the very clue to evoke imaginative thoughts and nurture an innovative mindset. The quintessential of innovation is to reinvent business, but not to reinvent the wheels, rejuvenate creative energy and reinvent human society.
