LESSON LEARNED

A balanced approach for holistic digital management is that failures need to be analyzed, and “lessons learned,” should be applied in the future wisely.

As the saying goes: History repeats itself. Some things from the past are circular and keep coming back in. LESSON LEARNED is what you learn from the past to increase your opportunities for future success. LESSON LEARNED also helps you learn what not to do for avoiding pitfalls to failures.

Learning important lessons from what you’ve done in the past: We cannot predict anything beforehand but can imagine with many experiences involved in current or in the past. If we do not accept our choices and mistakes in the past, or learn from errors /mistakes/shortcomings or whatever we can call, we can never really move forward. We must have a solid grasp on what has been tried before and analyze why those initiatives didn't succeed, take advantage through re-introducing the past in a new way and build the bridge to effectively connect lesson-learned from the past to the future performance and potential.

LESSON LEARNED is an ongoing scenario: LESSON LEARNED is what you learned from what you did on a given project, and that could be what you did right or what you did wrong. Either way, to capture the lessons learned as you go along, together with the decision process that led you to make the choice you did since that provides context for the learning. LESSON LEARNED should happen continuously throughout a project, continue to examine the lessons learned from the project, and consider whether what you learned should be developed into a best practice.

LESSON LEARNED is in a context and found to be applicable in similar situations: There are a number of incremental opportunities based on the lessons learned from the past. Lesson learned is what you learned from what you did in given business circumstances, and that could be what you did right or what you did wrong. Business can take advantage through re-introducing the past in a new way and build the bridge to effectively connect lesson-learned from the past to the future performance and potential. What makes leaders successful is what they do after they fail at something. What gives them the chance to do something else. The point is always to learn from the failure and fail forward.

Either individually or collectively, lesson learned provides great resources to help us improve. A balanced approach for holistic digital management is that failures need to be analyzed, and “lessons learned,” should be applied in the future wisely.
