Digital Leader as Learning Champion

What keeps leaders successful is the intellectual curiosity and ability to continuously be open to learning and applying these learning as they move forward.

The rapidly changing business climate makes the digital leaders and professionals today feel like to live in the tropical jungle, facing many attacks, in the danger of getting dismissed. How should they survive and thrive in such a dynamic environment? The spirit comes from the top. Digital leaders today need to be the learning champions who can take initiatives to build a learning organization in which people can learn and develop themselves, build unique competency and encourage mastery.

Shape learning mind: Digital leadership is a mindset that requires commitment from the very top of an organization all the way to the bottom without exception. Digital leadership fitness is based on thinking capacity, learning agility, as well as behavior exemplification. Because often, the radical change requires mind shift, let go of the “voices from the past,” absorb new knowledge and establish a new digital blueprint. Digital leaders must have learning curve awareness, they dare to ask “foolish questions,” be experimental and adventurous, always in the search for new things and new way to learn. Leadership is a character and personal development, you must continue to learn and improve leadership competency.

Improve learning agility: With overwhelming information and abundance of knowledge, one of the true tests of a digital leadership and professionalism is to know when you don't know, cultivate healthy digital attitudes to keep learning, adapt to change with the right speed, and improve leadership and professional skills. The tough part is that often the mindset of the older generation is perhaps more rigid, their “know it all” attitude might stop them from learning new knowledge and adapting to change because they are deep-seated with life experiences and beliefs. Thus, to develop a learning organization, top leaders must become learning champions, to make smooth mind shift, from a static analog mode to a dynamic digital mode, be aware when some of the long-acquired knowledge is no longer applicable in certain situations; be skillful to deal with situations that you have not dealt with before, possess the confidence and experience to be entrepreneurial. They must master the”learn-unlearn-relearn,” cycle smoothly and gain insight on changing circumstances; they must also enforce “learn-share-collaborate” culture, get the staff to be proactive in the changes an organization could possibly face, and build a learning organization effectively.

Nourish learning spirit: The spirit of organizations comes from the top, if the executive teams have a better passion for learning, it will shape the learning organization effortlessly. Great leaders nourish learning by listening, asking questions, dealing with conflict and giving or receiving feedback effectively. They are the learning champions who can provide a high level of leadership and coaching skills to inspire, encourage, and engage their teams to develop trustful relationship, operate effectively for change or innovation to occur. They understand that learning can come from anywhere and are not afraid to let their staff members teach them something new, allow their staff to be successful! Inspires others to be their very best and invests in their success.

What keeps leaders successful is the intellectual curiosity and ability to continuously be open to learning and applying these learning as they move forward. The digital leaders are learning champions who demonstrate inquisitiveness, adaptability, consistency, and empathy to steer change skillfully and master business dynamic effortlessly.
