Innovationconnectivity

The best point of view is to see innovation as a system, capable of delivering organization-wide capability.

Innovativeness becomes significantly important in the digital era because the future of work or running business should continue to discover, differentiate, and connect the right dots to innovate. There are both tangible and intangible elements that need to be knitted into the unique innovation competency of the organization.

In essence, innovation leadership implies unconventional wisdom, creativity, courage, risk intelligence while innovation management is about how to manage people, assets, time, resources, and risks to achieve high-performance business goals.

Innovation & leadership: Innovative leadership is essentially anchored on the leader's overall multifaceted resourcefulness and versatility to formulate unconventional solutions to resolve problems existing or emerging. Innovation implies breaking down outdated rules or conventionalism, removing the old belief or habit and establishing the trust and principles to inspire change. Innovation leaders are experimentalists who can experiment with new things, hypothesize interventions and iterate them till the right fit is made. They can see the old problems from every direction and find different solutions.

To be the innovator of tomorrow, people or businesses have to keep learning, updating their mindsets, knowledge, methodology, and approaches, creating alternative ways of working; mentors and coaches others relentlessly. They inspire new business model experiments; inter/entrepreneurship, interdisciplinary renaissance, culture of creativity, and differentiated innovation competency building of their companies. Innovative leadership is in a strong demand to bridge cognitive gaps, amplify innovation impact , and accelerate business transformation.

Innovation & philosophy
Philosophy is the mother of all sciences; science is the methodical process of identifying scientific reasons, methods, processes, concrete, provable outcomes; Philosophy is the compass behind breakthrough innovation; innovation is a process that can be managed by leveraging scientific disciplines and processes. Observation, inquisitiveness, experimenting, prototyping, risk managing, etc, are all important stages of innovation. Philosophical guidelines can improve the overall innovation success rate by questioning, reasoning, identifying faulty reasoning, and thinking outside the box for both generating great ideas and implementing them effectively.

Innovation philosophy comprises logic, aesthetics, ethics, metaphysics, ontology, and epistemology, etc. Philosophy is abstract, but it could provoke the chain of thoughts to stimulate fresh ideas. Many times, innovation is about simplifying and optimizing. Philosophers want to see complexity explained away in terms of a few simple principles an issue cannot be attained. Highly innovative companies develop innovation philosophy and make it the part of the DNA of the business for inspiring creativity, catalyzing innovation and managing a healthy innovation portfolio with the right combination of incremental and breakthrough innovation.

Innovation & culture: Innovation is the plant; culture is like soil, and the organization is the land. The more fertile the soil, the better nourishment the crop and plant products will be. Culture is the patterns of collective mindset, attitude, behavior towards something. With an ever-evolving business ecosystem, there are both tangible and intangible elements that need to be knitted into the unique innovation competency of the organization. The things that are often missing in advocating are the consequence of poor innovation culture. A corporation needs the culture to sustain cross-boundary engagement to discover external ideas, as well as interdisciplinary knowledge and expertise to manage those ideas to achieve business values.

An innovative culture is usually outward-looking rather than insular. One of the key ingredients in innovating is creating the right environment that encourages creativity. It's critical to foster a culture of innovation across functional disciplines and embed innovation management mechanisms into the corporate DNA. So primarily you have to change the culture, then come "policies, programs, and structures," in order to build innovation competency!

Innovation is doing something better than it currently is. It's a mindset. We come together in an effective way catalyzing creativity, bringing about breakthrough ideas, and accelerating the change we want to see in the world. From top down, the key is to realize that innovation is everyone's job, and that it is a function of both individual and organizational factors. The best point of view is to see innovation as a system, capable of delivering organization-wide capability.
