The “Profound” Views of Simplifying Complexity and Driving Progressive Changes

It’s critical to shape multidimensional views and bring up different perspectives on how to simplify complexity and accelerate collective human progress effortlessly.

We live in a complex world with hyper-connectivity and interdependence, people often complicate the simple things when they don't have the answers. In order to best understand a subject or a problem, digital leaders and professionals today needs to define it, shape multidimensional views and perceptions such as diagnostic, strategic, structural, interactive, or design, to name a few, eliminate the unnecessary complexity, not just reactively look through the real problem or react to the business ecosystem; they actually proactively plan and architect the change they want to see and solve problems elegantly.

Diagnostic view: Business strategy and societal progress are achieved through a healthy cycle of problem framing and problem-solving continuum. There is always a first step needed and that is diagnostic analysis and identification of the issues, dig into the root causes of the problems, and gain an accurate understanding of the overall situation sociologically, technologically, psychologically, economically, philosophically, and anthropologically. These diagnosis/solution definitions are key to the future degree of success. From such a diagnosis, approaches/solutions/methodologies can be defined, developed, and customized more precisely and in a more relevant manner.

Strategic view: The strategic view is to zoom in as if the future is closer at the temporal lens. At the higher level, strategic view helps you understand where you are, where you want to be, and how to identify the key business problems or issues. It involves multiple thinking processes such as spatial thinking and visionary recognition, matrix thinking and interactive connectivity, information analysis, and interpretation. From the problem-solving perspective, it’s to switch from focusing on activities and solutions to thinking about outcomes. From a change management perspective, it’s about getting the most relevant information you could and continuously update, uncovering options, thinking long term perspective, not just immediate goals.

Systematic view: With an unprecedented level of uncertainties and interdependence, being able to take a systematic view for understanding interconnectivity of things is an increasingly important skill in complex situations in which it is impossible to predict the behavior of the whole from the behavior of the parts; and in which the relationships between component parts are more important than the parts themselves. A systematic view offers a better and more accurate and structural understanding of the overall situation and problems. Thus, a radically different social and economic structure will be needed and the holistic digital perspective is imperative to solve problems radically and make transformative changes seamlessly. Solutions are made from a much broader and encompassing a systematic view, never think there is a shortlist of solutions you can pick from, and always be open to solving the problem in an alternative or better way.

Interactive view: There are interactions between business systems such as system overlaps and real in-and output dependencies. The interactive view provides insight into the emergent properties, appreciate the interaction and interrelationship dynamic, leverages an interdisciplinary lens to get the “scope” of the problem, see a larger system with interactive pieces and “conflict” goals; understand the interdependent pieces, what contexts it is used in and which behaviors are evoked. To be interactively creative for accomplishing a task or facilitating the team activity is to suppress automation or disembodiment, and to become immersive with it. People are able to take an immersive digital scenario for problem-solving in the whole flow of work, start-to-finish, idea-to-cash, and create an interactive environment to inspire change.

Design view: Design is a creative process coming up with novel ideas and figuring out elegant solutions. The purpose of design thinking and view is to think about how to address a problem creatively; organize and facilitate ideas; to map from here to there and the stops and steps in between. The problem with simple solutions is that they do not appear exciting, and, therefore, they are not appreciated. Everything is designed, focus on constantly building collective competency to think critically, solve problems creatively, and understand things holistically. Simplicity is the design principle of looking for what is common for maximum reuse and designing premium solutions.

Every problem has a reason behind it, and change is never for its own sake. It is the common non-systemic view of the world that is being uploaded into every generation by the previous one - that generates most of the human dysfunction and destructiveness. The real problem seems to understand the curve and how it relates to change because going through the downs of the change curve has a negative impact. Thus, it’s critical to shape multidimensional views and bring up different perspectives on how to simplify complexity and accelerate collective human progress effortlessly.
