The Monthly “Thinkingaire” Book Tuning: Growth Mind July 2020

It’s important to be equipped with a learning mind because when you stop learning, you are stagnant; especially at the age of digital, information is only a couple of clicks away,

Many organizations are doing digital - applying digital gadgets or taking a few business initiatives. But very few are being digital - move to the high level of digital maturity with a cohesive strategy and a holistic approach.

The fundamental difference is the digital mind shift. In addition to the set point changing, transformation requires first shifting mindsets and then building new skills, capabilities, and reinforcing and embedding new practices/reflexes.

Growth Mind

Fixed vs. Growth Minds At the traditional organizational setting, people are hired to do their job with compliance; and managers are hired to manage projects or people with control. However, businesses large or small are faced with rapid changes and digital dynamic. Such static management practice based on the fixed mindset is no longer sufficient to adapt to the changes or lift business up to the next level. Which shift is needed for smooth digital transformation?

The Digital MindFlow Change is about moving forward and improving. People are complicated, probably the most complicated 'thing' on the planet, but it doesn't mean we can't change to improve who we are and what we're doing. If you change people’s behaviors, more often you try to fix the symptoms; the critical step in change both at the individual level and organizational level is to change one’s mindset, in order to cure the root causes. Perhaps our mind should never get set, but keep flowing, to compete with the speed of digital.

From Mind ‘Set’ to Mind Flow Change is about moving forward and improving. People are complicated, probably the most complicated 'thing' on the planet, but it doesn't mean we can't change to improve who we are and what we're doing, the critical step in change is to change one’s mindset, perhaps our mind should never get set, but keep flowing, to compete with the speed of the machine, the speed of the wind, the speed of light….

A “Programmable” Mind Today’s digital workforce must have such agility to adapt to the changes. If you go deeper, you will find that the way you think, the way you react, the way you act .....is all due to the habits which got formed by your repeatedly thinking, feeling, or doing. Once you agree to this, then by changing your habits which can be called programming in the language of computers you will change - your habits (programs ) and this can change the way of your thinking as well. However, what're the characteristics of a programmable mind, and how to cultivate the sets of digital habits for riding above the digital learning curves

A Learning Mind It’s important to be equipped with a learning mind because when you stop learning, you are stagnant; especially at the age of digital, information is only a couple of clicks away, but the knowledge life cycle is significantly shortened. There are so many things we don't know and we want to know them all. Unfortunately, there is never enough time to apply all the things we learn - we can pass some on to others, but we never know what applications will arise. Loving to learn and the passion to share, very much go together. What is a ‘learning mind’ thinking about and how to shape such a digital mind?.
