Initiativesviaassertiveness

Great business initiatives to progressive change should be viewed as an "opportunity"; and express that in strategic objectives.

Due to the complexity and ever-changing business dynamic with frequent disruptions, behind many critical business initiatives, there are numerous points-of-view for varying stakeholders, as well as different assumptions of sequence & consequence.

Business leaders and professionals today need to demonstrate the tough character, hard & soft skill sets, as well as a set of core professional competencies. They can initiate cross-boundary communication to amplify influence, and set the right priority to handle tough situations smoothly.

Initiate the different kinds of dialogues, which would involve the use of assertiveness: One of the practices to amplifying leadership influence is about communication - listening, understanding your audience, knowing the purpose of your communication efforts, choosing the right morality, giving and receiving feedback, story-telling, persuasiveness, negotiation, etc. Those leaders with intellectual influence are usually perceptive thinkers; they continually challenge what most people understand as normal.

In practice, persuasiveness would use more assertiveness based on information, but more than information seeking; it connects with gut feeling; some assertiveness would be involved in inquiry and negotiation dialogues. Business professionals can gain unique insight by learning to create inner space of consciousness and superconsciousness in the storming mind of thoughts, sensations, imagination, and reasoning, break down conventional thinking boxes, initiate customized communication, ensure their unique voice can make a significant difference to the right audience and have them to achieve the goals motivationally.

Initiate innovative change, take a set of responsibilities and grow with it:
Corporate leaders and professionals at different positions across the organizational hierarchy should take shared responsibilities, having accountability for decisions and actions. It doesn't matter at what level one is leading or working: work unit, team, department, small establishment, mega-corporation, nation, globe. Regardless of which position you take in the organization, more responsibility doesn't always mean to keep your hands full, or make your schedule extremely busy; but means grow with it, and produce consistent performance results.

To develop leadership and engage employees, one of the most reliable practices is to increase their authority and responsibility. Accepting responsibility is when you prove your values and build trust. Shared accountability involves shared ownership, empathetic communication, and purposeful collaboration. Accountability is part of personal integrity. The true measure of accountability is credibility, performance, resilience, etc. If you ensure the individuals have autonomy within their tasks or initiatives, you will be able to address performance on an equal partnership basis.

Initiate the logical scenario to define the problem, deal with difficult situations, and develop alternative solutions:
Because when things get more and more complicated, misunderstanding pops up, processes turn to be fragile, and business gaps are enlarged. In order to drive desired changes and solve problems logically, the management needs to check up: Are the sponsors and doers convinced it's the right time to make the change? How would the vision be shared for the change continuously? Is the need for change greater than the resistance perceived in the organization? Have the systems that would nurture support been addressed? Has the readiness of the elements that would need to change and costs associated been assessed and approved

When you encounter a tough problem, you need to leverage strong logic to define the right problems, and use a creative way to solve it smoothly. You need interdisciplinary expertise to frame the right problems; you seek inventions, new designs, and creative problem-solving. Every problem has a way forward, think broadly and deeply, collect feedback, do analysis & synthesis, list different possibilities. To keep eyes on what matters, identify what generates the most value; choose an alternative and implement it smoothly.

Enterprises have always been parts of simple or complex ecosystems. That is the fundamental nature of the marketplace and the environment within which the enterprise functions. Running a business is an incremental or radical change continuum. Change curves exist because these days it is pretty tough to get attention as there is so much going on. Great business initiatives to progressive change should be viewed as an "opportunity"; and express that in strategic objectives. It’s important to set the right priority, analyze potential pitfalls, remove roadblocks, overcome change obstacles, break down silos, and manage change in a structural way to improve business value proposition and accelerate performance.
