Innatescientificmanagement

Science is what we continually do in a structural way with a set of principles and processes to reach the state of perfecting (not perfection).

Running a highly effective business is an iterative problem-solving continuum. There is both art and science in effective problem-solving. There are day-to-day operational issues to be taken care of and there are strategic concerns that the management needs to focus on for improving organizational competency.

The art of management enables us to reimagine the possibility of unlocking collective potential. With management as science, the organization can bring greater awareness of intricacies and the systemic value of organizational systems, business capabilities, process, people dynamics, resource alignment, or technological touches, in order to solve problems with structure, repetitiveness, and consistency.

Science is the process used to form a well-thought out strategy and the process for putting the strategy into actions to get the desired business results: Although there’s not scientific formula for strategy management as every individual or organization is different, we can always continue experimenting, refining and improving to achieve excellence, that is the principle of science. Most companies fail at execution because they have no cohesive processes, nor understand the linkage required to work horizontally or explore business logic vertically, or to think planning and implementation as linear steps only. Scientific strategy management today means that businesses need to apply nonlinear business logic, justify the cost and benefits of their investments both qualitatively and quantitatively, adhere to corporate and external compliance requirements, design and develop systems in a cohesive way that provide a unique proposition and add to competitive advantage, and also manage risk intelligently.

Science is about repetitive processes and structural practices. In scientific strategy management practice, there are three interrelated terms - vision, strategy, and tactics in strategy management. define a set of strategic goals first: from them, determine certain "action items" in a logical sequence. These action items become goals for business units; and then, each individual manager has a goal, with action items and opposing metrics, and so on. From an overall portfolio perspective, there are nested relationships and close linkage between strategy and tactics, the strategic plan drives an organizational project portfolio mix and traces the deliverables from the valuable products/services, and information to achieve business goals continually. With scientific discipline, the chain of actions can enforce business objectives and strengthen organizational competency. To improve business sustainability and maturity, operational process efficiency needs to be on the digital agenda to see economic prosperity return, cutting out waste such as shrinking the gap between business functions as described could make a significant contribution and the sooner it starts the better it will be for all involved

Science is about design, construction, and operations, based on the principles of logic and the patterns of nature: When talking about science, it implies logic, discipline, principle, process, practice, etc. In fact, there is art embedded in scientific design, construction and optimization, etc. Science is not always rigid, there is a variety of categorization, generalization, specialization, inference & deference logic in it. Even the rules of science should be updated if needed. Rather than focus on one method, as a team with broad expertise across a range of disciplines, there are choices of tools or methods appropriate for “assets in construct” either internally developed or externally acquired, that must be linked to business solutions that enable business goals.

Scientific business management can identify and blend the way that can assist and shape the business by linking all important business elements - people, process, and technology elements together to enforce the value creation, build the business capacity and competency to ultimately improve business quality. By following a set scientific management principles, a shared body of knowledge, and a collection of IT enabled methodologies & tools, organizations can focus on the true, recognized digital management discipline to keep trimming wastes and redundancy, set priority to bring transparency and keep optimizing business structures and processes to achieve operational excellence.

Science = "What," “At,” & "How": We have more computing power, greater connectivity, and huge potential empowerment of the digital workforce today. What are in our buckets that allow us to reach where we want to go, at which stage we can “start, set, go,” and how to get there step-wisely? Talking about science, it claims to be based on both inductive and deductive reasoning. Re-imagining the future of business is exciting, but investigating the different paths for unlocking business performance and potential needs to take a scientific management discipline with systematic approach and develop it into a more solid form. Management is a science as it is precise, exact and can be accurately and logically represented and reused. Science is complex, but needs to follow the simplicity principle. Business assets and resources need to be centralized, reallocated, updated or replaced if needed to improve business efficiency; business processes and capabilities should be consolidated, integrated and optimized if needed to improve organizational competency; business leadership, management, and culture need to be crafted, nurtured and rejuvenated to improve business effectiveness and innovativeness.

In fact, information touch and computation power has become one of the most important disciplines of science because it’s the science of how machines can be made to carry out information based intellectual processes and capabilities to ensure its products/services functionality, reliability, performance, and maintainability, etc. From a problem-solving perspective, the science is "the ability to produce solutions in a problem domain repeatedly." It has a scientific part in which a lot of things are proven, repeatable, and methodology that can be effectively used, etc, to build great products and services, and deliver customer-centric decisions. Science is not alway hard, the soft side of science is the foundation for us to achieve the state of people centricity. Human science, as a response to the use of positivistic methods for studying human phenomena, has embraced more holistic approaches, studying social phenomena through qualitative means to create meaning, analyzing human factors in cause-effect of problem-solving.

Science is what we continually do in a structural way with a set of principles and processes to reach the state of perfecting (not perfection). With “VUCA” digital new normal, we can’t predict every turn or curve that the business will face, you need to enable the desirable emergent business property, enforce the broader scope of collaboration. There is known unknown and unknown unknown, science cannot help eliminate uncertainty, but it helps us manage it. Scientific management disciplines provide clear guidelines and develop high-performance teams that are engaged, collaborative, and accountable to continually deliver the higher than expected business results with process repetitiveness to ensure reliability and endurance.
