We have to reinvent what leadership is with new normal and new approaches, develop the best and next practice to accelerate its maturity proactively.

Nowadays, businesses become over-complex and extremely uncertain. Static leadership does not work well in the digital era with “VUCA” reality. Leadership becomes more dynamic, innovative, and progressive.

Although leadership has many facets, at its core, the foundation of leadership is based on authenticity and vision. Great leaders think logically, act professionally in all aspects of their role and beyond. The thread holding leadership competency is based on in-depth understanding, innovation, learning agility, strong logic for problem-solving and advancing human society.

Leadership & understanding: Leadership is ripened when the power of leadership is based on acute observation, in-depth understanding, sound judgment, courageous questioning, cross-disciplinary orchestration. Insightful leaders apply critical thinking to deepen true understanding of the issues, improve cognitive intelligence without thinking too much or thinking too little.

To lead in such a hyperconnected and interdependent society, it’s always a good start when working to break down the silo mentality, go beyond crunching numbers, harness cross-functional communication, and foster cross-boundary collaboration. True wisdom leads to putting more thoughts into understanding and being understood. It is not just about overwhelming thinking chaos but about cohesive understanding and logical reasoning.

Leadership & learning agility:
In the static industrial age, leaders perhaps think they should have all the answers to command & control the situation. But the dynamic business and global environment keeps throwing a new set of situations to deal with. The management process and practice begins with leaders discovering ways to challenge current thinking, common beliefs, and assumptions about important elements of the organization. Creating a culture of learning starts from the top. Insightful leaders encourage followers to explore different possibilities and think in innovative ways, cultivate a working environment in which learning is encouraged and rewarded, and creativity is flourished.

Altering how executives think and act is challenging. Learning agility at both individual and business level is an important professional competency and culture shift. The most effective approach to transformative change of the organization is for the executives to have a personal philosophy shift by updating knowledge constantly and practicing self-criticism proactively. It will directly impact the speed of business transformation, the effectiveness of leadership, and the creativity of workforce

Leadership & Inspiration:
The good intention of becoming a leader is to inspire and innovate. Leadership inspiration is a tough journey to facilitate open dialogues and encourage progressive changes. Because change is often an uncomfortable, yet necessary part of reaching the future and sustaining its impact. Inspiration shapes a high-level understanding; involves a broader perspective and a longer range view of societal transformation, awakening people to explore new possibilities by allowing them to transcend their ordinary experiences and limitations to fresh insight and nonlinear capability building.

Inspiration is best thought of as a surprising interaction between your current knowledge and the information you receive from the world. It creates synergy in strengthening positive thinking and influencing. It is the glue to make talent, hard work, ideas to become reality and make all that count. Besides being brilliant and subject experts, inspirational global leaders are in demand to focus on convincing, persuasion, collaboration, have agility to adapt to expedited changes, lead through influence rather than command & control, better tolerate ambiguity and uncertainty, and spread leadership across boundarily.

The world becomes over-complex and hyperdiverse, the insightful leaders are interfaces of varying perspectives, opposing views, cultures, constraints, collaborations, and competitions by applying contextual thinking, interdisciplinary knowledge to achieve high level of leadership competency. We have to reinvent what leadership is with new normal and new approaches, develop the best and next practice to accelerate its maturity proactively.
