The philosophy of balance is to follow the law of nature, improving agility and flexibility across the spectrum of digital dynamic to reach the next level of growth and confluence.

Change is the new normal, organizations and their people must learn through their interactions with the environment. It requires the balance of the diversified viewpoints, creativity & discipline; “old experience” and “new ways to do things”; process and flexibility, etc. 

Balance seems effortless, but there are all different ingredients such as flexibility, agility, paradox, harmony, resilience, etc, to make it advanced in leading changes and catalyzing innovation smoothly.



Flexibility: A flexible mind loves choices, explores alternatives and enjoys making differences. In a business setting, a culture of flexibility is about balancing process and creativity; rules and change; cultivate trust and respect. Complex organizations are inflexible due to friction between the parts, incoherent integration between parts and whole. To dig deeper, inflexibility is often caused by overly rigid structures or processes, redundant procedures, or outdated rules. A flexible style means how to strike the right balance of personalization & standardization; analysis & intuition; specification & unification; optimism & caution to improve problem-solving effectiveness, professional or organizational maturity.

Agility: Agility is the ability to adapt to change or create momentum for change; striking the right balance of solidity and flow. Balance is not a stillness or stagnation that people or organizations get stuck by misunderstanding the means and end. Agility enforces interaction, iteration, improvement and collaboration, to enable the organization to reach the state of balance. Agility within and of itself is a strategy - to create change momentum by prioritization right and putting emphasis on improving effectiveness and performance. Agility enables business innovation and transformation by taking advantage of resources scientifically, building differentiated business capabilities to gain competitive business advantage solidly.

Paradox: The paradox is able to understand and accept two opposing truths existing side by side, which can be both right. Paradoxical Intelligence is the multidimensional intelligence to balance diverse viewpoints, broader perspectives to understand problems holistically in order to solve them thoroughly. Innovation has the characteristic of paradox; creativity is sparked by conflicts. Insightful leaders and professionals with paradoxical intelligence present broad knowledge, profound insight, and true wisdom to discern multifaceted truth confidently, take a balanced view of both sides of the coin cohesively, navigate the digital divide skillfully, know how to deal with contradictions and embrace incompatible forces, rather than choose between them, for improving decision cohesiveness and problem-solving fluency.

Harmony: The universe is an intermix of micro and macro entities and every aspect of it is characterized by duality. Balance is not fixed, but in a flow to reach harmonized condition. Balance is not about putting mismatched things in the same box and expecting natural harmony. It’s important to create a harmonized working environment by communicating smoothly to make collective decisions and taking a collaborative road to achieve a state of effortless digital flow and dynamic balance, mimic nature, adopt change as a constant. Organizations that have a high mature strategic alignment, integration, collaboration, or harmony will outperform their competitors and tend to be more responsive to the business dynamic.

Resilience
: As uncertainties are a common occurrence in any walk of our progress, failure is part of change. Resilience is an elastic component of people or organizations, being flexible and adaptable in the midst of adversity, threat and stress, undergoing high dynamic stress and yet they are able to recover smoothly to the original situation without much degradation of themselves. Psychological resilience improves our adaptation to fail over and fail forward. People have a resilient mindset and balanced skills can adapt to the continuous digital disruption either in career or personal life. Strategic risks are about uncertainties, inherent variability and the unknown interdependencies, a business system gains more and more energy until it crosses the point of system resilience, showing the capacity to respond to the unexpected in a way that increases gain or minimizes loss.
