Initiateauthenticity

Leadership in the coming decade will need to be more authentic, agile, and advanced.

The world has become more connected and transparent, leadership is all about change, but there are so many variables to leverage in leadership refinement.

Leadership is about developing people, not just managing them. Effective leadership is based on its authenticity, agility, profundity, creativity, consistency, and the context of influence, etc. Leadership is a mindset that requires commitment from the very top of an organization all the way to the bottom without exception. To unify, harmonize, and advance human society, it is imperative that "leadership" needs to be re-imagined, fully-explored, deeply understood and clearly refined for it to create multifaceted value.

Authenticity: Authenticity is the most fundamental, but challenging attribute for leadership effectiveness and advancing human society. Oftentimes, the stereotypical perceptions, style over substance presentation, or cookie-cutting matching approach cannot discover an authentic leader or progressive professional. It's only when we lead with our true selves that we're able to connect purposefully, build trust, deepen understanding, and truly engage with others' authentic selves for moving forward collaboratively.

The authentic, profound, heterogeneous, creative leaders can inspire via clarified vision, rejuvenate passion, in today’s interdependent dynamic global ecosystem. It is always critical to develop a culture that encourages real thinking and being authentic. Authentic cultures don't reflect their members, their members reflect them; meaning you select team members who are natural fits - with fitting mindset, attitude, and behavior. With authentic leadership, trustful communication and fair principles, but not overly rigid processes, people are inspired to strengthen their strength, to become who they are, and unleash their full potential.

Agility: Change is part of a new normal with increasing pace in such an environment, how can leaders ensure that their organizations are reading the right signals timely and acting on emerging opportunities or risks in the right ways? Agile leaders inspire cross- disciplined thinking, iterative communication, and cross-functional collaboration, to reduce the time between stimulus and response. The Agile leadership will continue to learn the latest digital trends that could have a huge impact for business’s long-term growth, being learning agile to create momentum constantly.

Agile is neither just a methodology nor an end state, it’s a set of principles and guidelines, leadership philosophy, the management approach and engineering discipline. Agile leaders can cultivate a culture of agility, so organizations can move themselves forward through open-mindedness, good attitude, the lens of inclusiveness, and tolerance of ambiguity, to improve business capacity to change, and overall organizational maturity.

Ambidexterity:
Business world has become over complex and hyper connected. It's important to practice open leadership and build an ambidextrous organization with both strong listening and telling, change and stability, transaction and transformation abilities for improving business agility and maturity. If you do not listen, you will lose the goodwill of the collaborators and innovators. If you can not tell insightfully, you perhaps can not build a strong reputation to make a positive influence. It’s critical for designing, developing, delivering hybrid digital solutions and practicing holistic management disciplines continually.

Ambidextrous leadership can strike the right balance of questioning and answering, listening and telling; centralization and distribution, innovation and standardization, simplicity and complexity; process and flexibility; performance and potential, harnessing innovation and improving efficiency, etc; All of which are invaluable pairs of duel forces for running an ambidextrous high-performance organization.

Leadership faces new imperatives to thrive in “VUCA” reality. Leadership in the coming decade will need to be more advanced and distributed—the opposite of the command-and-control leadership that has dominated the twentieth century. Regardless of how you categorize leadership, what keeps leaders successful across functional, organizational, industrial, geographical or generational borders, is their authentic fitting mindset, humble attitude, and differentiated competencies to continuously be open to learning and applying these learnings as they lead forward with courage and strategy.
