Initiatives

Every business initiative is to solve a certain problem and achieve certain goals

Organizations are complex, there are competitions, conflicts, and controversies all over the place in today’s complex marketing environment. If the business management says yes to all the initiatives, it causes lack of focus on getting the most critical work done successfully,

Leaders and managers should guide, direct, own the strategy they hold themselves accountable for; listen, communicate, and rally the team for the cause, enhance holistic management discipline to drive desired change and unlock performance.

Agile planning and implementation:
In today's digital dynamic or unstable business circumstances, instead of out-of-date disjointed top-down management paradigms, business management is more agile and flexible to encourage autonomy. Senior executives should say no to many of the initiatives, just choose a few where they will put most of the resources of the company on the most important things, make seamless alignment, set the right strategic initiatives to implement and execute the strategy step-wisely.

Agility implies three “I”s: Incrementalism, iteration improvement. Applying strategic agility practice has to be cohesive and adjustable. Agile management practitioners ask open-ended questions that evoke responses to enlighten or illustrate specific issues, say openly what is known and what is not, ask for feedback on what they believe the problem to be but also be prepared to hear something they might not like or agree with. A periodic assessment of overall strategic direction should not impede the use of agile in the specific business initiatives that are launched. The business management needs to make appropriate adjustments to fit for the dynamic business environment and improve the success rate of business initiatives management.

Improve people engagement & involvements: People are always the center of business. The challenge for organizational management is to create committed and engaged employees. If you want your employees to be engaged, you want to define that, you're going to first need to acknowledge the skepticism, truly understand it, and at least attempt to do something about it. It’s about employees willing to give discretionary effort, want to stay, and are always looking for ways to improve individual and team performance.

From the top down, the organization or society is on the right way to embrace diversity; and inclusiveness becomes the digital new normal. The real key to unlocking great execution is found through the engagement level of people. Orient people and make them aware of the inclusiveness of the organization, help them understand the value of harnessing the unique competency. Improve organizational engagement around very specific goals, such as employee retention, talent acquisition, or multi-generational workforce facilitation.

Accelerate personalized product/service developments:
With more advanced information technology, businesses need to become more customer-centric. A disruptive products over time weakens as it moves towards the eventual commodity. To develop differentiated business advantages, companies have to keep searching for new opportunities to disrupt, rather than being disrupted. Products or services innovation needs to be relative to markets, customers, etc, focused on the operations side within a firm as well as industry structure.

There are many reasons for establishing consistency across a broader scope; these may be opportunistic to improve productivity or business critical issues, such as optimizing common customer experience. People at the top are skilled at defining the business requirements in a business language describing targets, customer needs, personas, competitor offers, current product suitability and all identified opportunities. They have to promote and accelerate the personalized products/services initiatives and improve their success rate.

Businesses are complex, people are complex; the management is nonlinear today. Every business initiative is to solve a certain problem and achieve certain goals. Charting a course to how the business achieves the strategic goals with intermediate objectives over time, enforcing an iterative planning-implementation continuum is pivotal to success.
