On the journey of business transformation, the effective governance discipline can complement business management practice, in order to navigate transformation in the right direction.

The digital paradigm means hyperconnectivity, interdependence, integration, and holism. The reason why many business initiatives fail - some soft factors and the challenge of complexity come into play. 

In order to take holistic, integrated, and iterative approaches to go digital, it's important to build up a positive emotional climate, foster positive relationships, and empathetic communication, striking the right balance of reaping quick wins and focusing on the long-term strategic goals, solidifying business performance.

Being able to handle adverse and feedback, push through, and focus on a purpose, vision, and discovery of truth, etc: Most businesses start with a vision and establish a set of strategies to achieve it, but the ever-changing marketplace has a way of impacting their plans and understanding. There is delayed gratification; there is always friction in business changes cognitively or technically. It’s important to cool down stressed people before they stress others; make a smooth psychological transition from denial to resistance to commitment to acceptance, build up trust by bonding people around clear and benevolent intentions. Then, intentionally and intuitively adjust their mindset and behaviors in order to exert influence in that context.

Eager anticipation enhances satisfaction as goals are realized. As a result, the best-managed companies evolve their vision/mission/strategy/goals with the changing times and market conditions. Organizations need to have a sound strategy to laser focus on the destination but be agile to adapt to the emergent change circumstances. If your companies are at the crossroads of the transformation, make sure information and interaction flow in every direction. Business management needs to set alternative paths to achieve the goals, take a stepwise approach, and walk through “look, listen, question, understand, plan, test and collaborate,” to ultimately realize the vision.

Understanding context is often the first and the important step in complex problem solving: Being fluent in contextual logic aids people in understanding what’s relevant and what’s not. Seeing the context you are part of, allows you to identify the leverage points - what might be useful, without being blinded-sided by your own constrained perspectives, broaden perspective, see relevant parts, and then, choose the decisive factors, take acute awareness of present contextual variables, in order to make sound judgment, in the attempt to achieve the set purpose.

In the digital working environment, context intelligence is about understanding the whole meaning of functional dialects and business circumstances without getting lost in translation, and perceiving business insight in a cohesive way. To predict the future with a certain level of accuracy, besides information precision, the highest level of future sensitivity comes from appreciation of contextualization. Build a scaffold towards the solution so that capacity can be developed. Only then, can the information be used the way it needs to be used, creating the relevant context to make a more lasting solution.

Improving interdisciplinary collaboration, advocating the concept of “business as a whole is superior to the sum of pieces”
: Digital leaders and professionals apply multidimensional thinking and leverage nonlinear logic to understand business context and sustain diversified viewpoints into holistic perspectives without enlarging cognitive gaps and causing too many side effects. Senior leaders should have the ability to complement the team’s viewpoint for bridging gaps and overcoming decision fatigue, especially at the strategic level.

It’s important to perceive the big picture of the business ecosystem, take a wide look at what's going on outside the organization, the business ecosystem, understand the interdependence of issues, recognize and diagnose the plethora of contextual factors inherent in the circumstances. Take an “interconnected systems “approach, to enhance the integration of across local and global business, social, technological, economic, political, and ecological systems, bridge gaps between planning and implementation.

The digital ecosystem is dynamic, hyper-connected, expansive, and interdependent. To explore the emerging digital horizon and stay competitive, you have to understand what it means to the business, get to know the external changing connected environment. On the journey of business transformation, the effective governance discipline can complement business management practice, in order to navigate transformation in the right direction, fine-tune an information fluid business ecosystem, and commit to taking a systematic approach to explore the full digital potential.
