Innovategloballeadership

Contemporary global leaders can make a profound influence based on their cognitive cultural understanding, unique observation and clear discernment to touch the heart and connect the mind.

We live in such a diverse and interdependent global world with unpredictability, uncertainty, exponential growth, and fierce competitions. Organizations don’t exist in silos but within global systems. Being global is about crossing not just borders but also cultural divides between business, government, and social sectors. Global citizens today have a diversity of thoughts, characters, cognitive differences, skills, styles, and generation account, etc.

How to innovate global leadership with the following characteristics and traits and improve global professional maturity?

Global insight and foresight: Leadership is about change and direction. To lead the world forward, global perspective with cultural cognizance is important in a more hyper connected and globally distributed world as you need a directional guide to break down outdated traditions, fix misperception, avoid misinterpretation, and correct misunderstanding. A holistic global perspective can be explored via multiple thought processes; diverse viewpoints, and continuous dialogues, etc. The global leadership effectiveness is not only based on the rising and expandable horizon, but also based on forethoughtful leaders’ very intention or effort to dig into the root causes of varying issues in the global scope, connect the wider dots and advocate innovative solutions.

Leadership is situational; global leadership certainly has to take into account cultural intelligence and how that affects communication, interaction, and collaboration between people with diversity of thoughts, character, cognitive difference, skills, style, etc. Insightful global leaders should cultivate their global mindset with cognitive intelligence about others as well as themselves; always look for the complementary mindsets, capabilities, and skills that they don't have; facilitate enriched conversations to harmonize the worldwide differences of values, cultures, philosophies, etc, so that they can build a highly competitive team and complement each other to unleash human potential,

Inclusiveness:
Leadership is complex and leading across cultures is more complex. An inclusive global leader has an appreciative eye to enjoy all great things, talent, an open mind to understand how others think and value; embraces the full spectrum of cognitive difference and the wealth of human abilities, proactively gaining cognizance of their environment and adapting to it. In a truly global organization or a society, inclusiveness needs to be well embedded into the culture - the collective mindset and attitude to do things, and it’s possible to set common beliefs and criteria to assess professional quality, credibility, competencies and maturity. Technically, very few people actually know how to conduct an inclusive holistic analysis of an entity as huge as our global world. Such inclusive analyses address all elements of the global society, including interfaces and interactions associated with people, processes, information/technology, cause-effect of diverse global concerns and problems.

Problem-solving at the global scope is a mindset with curiosity, inclusiveness, intellectual sophistication and cultural empathy, etc. The very goal of doing deep analysis is to lead into synthesis - how to bind things up or integrate all important components seamlessly, more fitting for the larger purpose. The radically different social and economic structure will be needed and the global perspective is imperative. It takes a holistic worldview that looks at the complex problems or issues in such a way that a solution emerges through a collaboratively multicultural approach involving global human capital and interdisciplinary expertise. That results in both constructive collaboration and competition depending on the context and situation. Effective leaders need to have a thorough understanding of the various cultures and how these leadership characteristics show up in these cultures, and gain a profound understanding of the global business ecosystem for achieving high value and making leapfrog progression.

Influence:
Leadership is influence. While there are many components of global leadership, one of the most important ones is the ability to adapt, model and influence transformative change. Empathy is absolutely one of the most critical elements of global leadership, innovativeness is important to lead creatively. Besides being brilliant and domain expertise, high-influential global leaders are in demand to focus on convincing, persuasion, and collaboration at the global scope; knowing how to practice strategic thinking for keeping the end in mind, collaborate with stakeholders of all stripes, lead desired changes by setting good policies, lubricating communications, and optimizing processes and capacities.

The adaptable global leaders are good at shifting from one leadership style to another, but keep the leadership substance on check, such as a clear vision to direct: the expertise to influence; strong communication skill to facilitate or negotiate, as well as sound judgment and problem-solving competency with a global context. Contemporary global leaders can make a profound influence based on their cognitive understanding, unique observation and clear discernment to touch the heart and connect the mind. They keep improving their global leadership fluency from culture empathy to intelligence; from respect to empowerment, from creativity to inspiration,

We live and share such a beautiful planet together. Generally speaking, an influential global leader must be a strategic visionary to set the prioritized global agenda for leading significant global progress; an influential communicator to facilitate world-wide dialogues for coping with existing issues or emerging problems; a sophisticated global professional to share and co-develop knowledge and fresh insight to build strong credibility; a passionate coach to cultivate more authentic global leaders this gen or next-gen; and ultimately, a highly effective problem-solver who can frame the right problems in the global scope, engage diverse global citizens to participate and co-solve them effortlessly. By such mass collaboration, we can renew creative energy and lift up humanity.
