innatequalitytraits

Quality is in everything people think and behave.

Quality is everyone’s business. Quality management needs to describe what quality looks like, take an overarching approach with a set of clearly-defined principles and multidisciplinary practices produce quality results.

Either from a professional and organizational management perspective, quality shines through proficiency, consistency, simplicity, reliability, and coherence.

Proficiency: Quality is in everything people think and behave. Business leaders and professionals today must improve proficiency, quality, and maturity by continuous learning and developing their professional portfolio. They need to understand their environment profoundly, have the proficient knowledge to practice the expert power, with the ability to master the variety of business dialects, move from one conversation to the other seamlessly, without “getting lost in translation.”

In fact, organizations are complex adaptive living systems, which are composed, in part, of people who are also complex adaptive living systems, all such systems function, grow and prosper by continually, via learning, innovating, adapting, and evolving.

Consistency: You are what you continue thinking and doing in a consistent way. Professional quality is dependent on the consistency of people’s thinking, attitude, and behavior. Not only do quality leaders keep consistent in themselves; but they also look for consistency in their teams, in their organization as well as in the ecosystem, as consistency harmonizes humanities.

Consistency enhances trust, improves quality, increases credibility and integrity, or better said, "consistency" is essential in earning and holding the trust of each other. Consistency remains a favorite mantra for quality management and facilitates efficiencies in operations and the ability to deliver a shared brand promise across boundaries.

Simplicity: With simplicity, what we are adding is clarity, quality and purpose. Certain aspects of the problem space may be inherently complex. But problem-solving is the process to pursue simplicity and improve quality. Removing complexity (assumptions & dependencies) more clearly reveals the intentions of quality refinement and design maturity. Logically, simplifying the complicated thing is an optimal and smart choice to improve products/service quality and solving problems optimally.

Quality is an integral discipline and practice and simplicity can be viewed through different lenses. Simplicity means intuitive design from developers’ lens; simplicity means delightful products or services with "easy to use" features from customers’ perspective. Keep things simple, but not simpler. Engaging customers by providing simplified and intuitive products/services on an ongoing basis to see how their goals are achieved is a good way to improve quality.

Reliability: Reliability is the ability to consistently deliver the high-quality products, services, and expected business results. Reliability is not about being static or silo, as the matter of fact, it’s about connecting, communicating, and collaborating to improve quality and harness trust and transparency. Product or service reliability is one of the critical non-functional 'abilities' such as availability, scalability, reconfigurability, interoperability, elasticity, security, etc.

With a faster pace of change and continuous disruptions, there are both day-to-day operational issues and strategic concerns for improving professional or business reliability, there needs to be a better appreciation to examine a situation and understand the problem from different angles in order to fix real issues; applying a holistic management discipline to improve business reliability. and improve overall business quality.

Coherence: Coherence is simply about logic and consistency, with the ability to maintain focus and clarity, even under extreme pressure. Coherent capability improves information flow, and resilience, makes professionals or businesses antifragile. Process design is logical-how it is or will be done - describes a solution. Process coherence fosters quality and resilience of the capabilities.

To manage performance coherently, the logical scenario includes making a fair assessment and gets objective perspectives on what you are trying to manage. High performers seek to make the value they create visible to their external stakeholders and deliver coherent products/services/solutions with continuous deliveries.

Quality masters are well-disciplined leaders and employees who can work independently and collaboratively, have excellent problem-solving skills, bring quality thoughts, attitude, behavior and quality management techniques to the workplace and build high quality and high-performing business in a well-disciplined way.
