e are living in a complex world with continuous changes and disruptions, which makes it impossible to have complete knowledge and understanding of many complex issues. 

There are competitions, conflicts, and controversies all over the place in today’s dynamic marketing environment. The organization needs to be designed openly and operated structurally for anyone with ideas on how human organizations ought to be contrived in the face of varying challenges.

It’s important to envision the larger picture to understand the best next moves: Enterprise is a complex entity, with emerging digital technologies and a sea of information, today’s business leaders and professionals need to be open-minded to embrace new concepts and ideas, demonstrate the strategic intelligence to conceptualize the future state of the organization, set the direction, connect the previously unconnected dots, make sure the business as a whole is more optimal than the sum of pieces. 

In the past, many business leaders believed their organizations’ long-term goals could wait until they had dealt with the current crisis. However, in “VUCA” reality, this is no longer the case, uncertainty and complexity are the new normal, you have to make timely adjustments for the planning you made or the actions you try to take. A holistic perspective can fix the misperception by exploring multiple thought processes; willing to listen to the diverse viewpoint, capturing the bigger picture, and seeing both the forest and the trees.

It’s critical to go out and talk with customers to understand their tastes and current and future needs: To laser focus on their top priority issues and shape a people centric organizations, customers should become the primary driver of “why” and “what” work should be done, “how” to do it better, and “who” should do it. The business management needs to keep contemplating: Does your business solutions make logical sense to customers, make them feel special? What’s the customer’s impression on your brand? Do you reward loyal customers or push them away? They need to believe that the customer is the lifeline of the business. They should figure out where to digitize the touch point of the customer experience, and which alternative solutions/services to make them delightful.

Companies should take the outside-in customer lenses and adopt customer-centric strategies, understand the needs of customers, and appreciate customers’ feedback, to tailor their needs and grow more satisfied customers. Having a strong sense of how to develop customer-centric programs within the business means to build an integral set of business capabilities to enable strategy implementation. It’s also important to combine technology and business tactics to produce personalized solutions and optimize every touch point of customer experience continually.

It’s important to clarify critical issues, and major concerns; solve both existing or emergent problems effortlessly: 
With hyper-connected and over-complex new normal, every change initiative, either at a functional level or corporate scope, you have to solve certain problems without too many side effects. Often, events and patterns are observed on the surface, and then the action is taken to fix the symptoms, but the real issues continue to come back. As a result, trying to fix the wrong cause of a problem will waste time and resources, increase anxiety, and even create more problems later on. There are small issues and large problems, there are tactical and strategic problem solvers. It is important to be able to be objective and gain a different view in order to develop a better understanding of certain topics or problems that may occur by asking: What is the problem? Is that the right problem? Has the problem been fixed permanently? Does the solution cause any side effects, or cause more serious issues later on? Who are the real problem-solvers?

The business leaders' commitment must be clearly and completely communicated for engagement of all stakeholders in order to improve organizational information fluency, agility, innovation capacity and resilience; The multi-threaded management discipline involves aligning business initiatives, talent, resources. High-effective business management intends to not only take care of isolated issues, but solve chains of problems by taking multi-thread management disciplines. Innovation confluence is achieved by establishing an innovation framework, taking structural processes and leveraging efficient technological tools to design, produce, or improve products, services, processes, or business models that generate new value to varying stakeholders.

To survive the “VUCA” digital new normal and thrive with the long-term business advantage involve more planning, adjustment, and speed. Being outside-in and customer-centric is the new mantra for forward-looking organizations today.
