Innovation management needs to take a disciplined approach, set the right priority, align resource, process, talent seamlessly, cultivate a culture of creativity, manage risks and improve innovation management success rate significantly.

Today we are inextricably linked, in real time and in ways far more imminent than most realize. The future hasn't unfolded completely; there is a process to decode the unseen, and the unseen is always complex because it is not known and it implies risks.

Potentiality is our gift as humans, and innovation is the only path to reinvent human society. There is no “one size fits all” formula of innovation, and there are various parameters that you need to make adjustments. Innovation has a considerably high ratio to fail. There are both cognition and emotion involved, hard and soft elements in innovation management to achieve innovation excellence.

It’s critical to keep reminding yourself that where you are today is because of the continuity of every step taken: Be yourself, and be authentic; to co-create is to influence what you would like to bring into the future. Innovation, especially radical one is an adventurous journey; scenarios of possible futures create stories, this is where you want to be. Have the right dose of risk tolerance, take courageous actions. Trust your intuition more and take time to celebrate achievements. But also learn from the failures and setbacks, generate your flavor of stories. Within the forward-looking stories, there are some parts that you know will occur with reasonable certainty, and some that you feel you can influence, and some that matter, but are unknowable and uncontrollable.

We are part of nature, and nature keeps emerging. Thinking innovatively and strategically, assists in "seeing" and bringing novelty and clarity to the future within the ecosystem. There are ups & downs on the path of innovation. If you didn’t hit the crisis point - the point in which you sense the opportunity in the risks, you couldn't reach the next turning point of innovation breakthrough. The outlooks for the upcoming innovation journey to build a more advanced society depends on how fast you could learn and how boldly you could explore emerging opportunities, pursue uncovered possibilities.

Keep reminding yourself that you need to value others, be inclusive to unleash collective potential: Innovation is often the collaborative effort. Do not allow your biases to prevent you from moving forward. Often, people misjudge others based on subjective criteria or outdated standards, narrow lenses, without listening to the two sides of the story. Innovators have the intellectual curiosity to ask good questions for capturing fresh insight, have an expanded thinking box to connect wider dots for spurring abundant ideas effortlessly. They live in an inclusive world full of energy; full of potential, free from psychological inertia; and challenge conventional ways to do things.

The ideas followed by ideas create a beautiful landscape to enrich our adventure and allow us to connect to the rest of the universe wirelessly. Creative connectivity means to have a better ability for dots connection across knowledge boundaries to spark great ideas and catalyze innovation. Every collaborative team will be different and hence, produce different results. Don't expect your collaboration to be the same, and find your own balance and you will find your innovation.

Keep reminding yourself that innovation in its basic nature is a high-risk area; more often you are doing something that hasn't been done before:
The positive attitude for inspiring innovation is to be cautiously optimistic, practice critical thinking and creative thinking; be alert about obstacles or pitfalls on the way, and take calculated risks. Don’t be afraid of failures, but you have to learn something from your failure, to manage a healthy innovation portfolio with the right mix of incremental and breakthrough innovation.

It is important to set clear guidelines for managing innovation risks in a structural way. Some risks can be quantifiable; some can only be approximated. The positive attitude is to take the calculated risk and be cautious about obstacles or pitfalls on the way and avoid making repetitive mistakes. Innovation management team with the right dose of risk appetite is able to turn things around when a failure happens and develop the culture of learning-agile and risk intelligence.
